My poor kittyman is having a problem, and I was wondering if anyone else with a cat has ever experienced this.
About two weeks ago I noticed that his tail looked 'less fluffy', but thought nothing of it. Then this morning I noticed a small bald spot on his right back 'thigh' (do cat's have thighs? HA!) Anyway, by this evening there was another spot on the same side, but up closer to his neck. I am so freaked...I love my cat soooooo much. Where the hair is missing on his two spots on his side, there is a very 'light' scab. No scabs anywhere on his tail, but upon closer inspection of his tail, he definatly lost hair.
I don't think it can be mange. He is an indoor cat. And if it was mange, wqouldn'r my dogs have started loosing hair too? (I thought it was highly contagious). Any other ideas or suggestions? Yes, I know, the vet, the vet! I will be going on Monday, but I wanted to try to get some answers before then, I am scared! He is only four years old, and othere then this, he is very healthy.
The whole house hold had fleas about a month and a half ago, they are gone now...do you think it's something to do with the fleas that he had about three weeks back? I thought they were gone at least.
This is the other thing about taking him to the vet...I got him from an animal shelter, so he was up to date on his kitten shots, and he is also fixed, but I haven't gotten him any more shots in the four years I've had him. I choose not to because he is only an indoor cat. If I take him to the vet they are going to try and tell me that he really needs a bunch of shots, etc...when all I want to know is how to save his furr from continuing to fall out?!?
Any help would be greatly appreciated...I tried to take a picture of the spots, but he kept moving. They are just two small bald spots, same side of his body, and they have a very 'light' scab.
