Book ban

Should certain books be banned or censored? I don't think so well one or two books come to mind. What do you think?

Cybergwen theres 1 book that I know I want banned but thats becuase that book is about killing people and it gives reasons to do it otherwise I agree

I agree with Gwen~ If you say it's ok to ban one~ There will be SOMEONE out there with SOME idea that another needs to go and another and another. People have free will, so if you read a book about killing and kill it's your fault.

I also want to add in that I feel like the lack of focus on reading is what is wrong with kids today. They are not encouraged to read like they should. I make sure my kids are in all reading programs at school.

In my personal opinion it would be definitely not! My reason being if we allow this how would we limit other books from being banned?

Books should not be banned. But we should watch some of the content when our children read them.
I have told my son, then now my 2 grandchildren that reading is the most important thing to do. My grandchildren now love to read and I buy them any book they want to read. But I do watch out for what the content is.

Definately not. I agree people should use common sense when deciding what to read.

I can understand your reasoning behind wanting a book about killing to be banned. It's unfortunate in today's society, people are quick to blame something (books, TV, movies) instead of being accountable for their actions.
No book should ever be banned. It wouldn't do any good anyway with the internet handy, all you have to do is go on line and find out anything you want to know.

That's a very slippery slope. Once you start banning books, where do you stop. If you don't approve of a book, then don't read it. But to ban books, a very firm NO WAY!!

I don't think so but in schools it should be up the parents not the state. If I don't like the book than I won't let my kids read it until I think they are old enough to handle it. I am against schools banning books - I am all for warning parents but not banning.

Censorship of a book is the idea that by forbidding "you" from reading it (or from listening to music, or watching a film), "I" preserve your moral dignity.
