Well lets see ... I want several things for when my habitat house is done being built.
The main thing I want is a digital camera. One that works really good. I want to be able to take pictures of my new house, kids, and the pets.
Then the next thing I want is a nice set of matching towels for my new house's bathroom. I have never had matching towels ... I know corny right?
I would like some home decor stuff for the new house ... maybe some rugs for the front and back door, some pictures for the walls, curtains that sort of stuff.
I would REALLY REALLY like some tools! I am going to need a good set of tools to help maintain my new habitat house! :)
I need a toaster ... would love to have one!
I just basically need some basic things for the new house. So my christmas wish list is for items for the house .. or gift cards to home depot or walmart so I can buy some items for the house!
I would also love to find some furniture for my youngest two childrens room. They will have their own room when we move into the house so we will be needing some furniture!
Oh ... my biggest christmas wish is that my house will be done being built by then and the kids and I can move in!
So tell 'Santa' I have been really really good this year! Say a prayer or two for me!

I give to and receive from Freecycle, which is great for getting most of the things on your list.
Good luck!
I also have used Craigslist for furniture and got a really, I mean REALLY good deal on a captain's twin bed that was almost like new. It had one drawer that had to be glued back together, but came with a good boxspring and new looking mattress for $25. We just had to haul and glue it, and my 10 year old got a really nice bed for that.
If I could, I would buy you a whole set as a housewarming gift!
I know every Habitat build and area is different, depending on what contractors they are working with at the time, and the ammount of skilled laborers they have per build... I have to say that when I had a house, it needed repairs and things right away. I think you saying you need tools is right on the money.
In fact the first thing I had to do was patch a hole in the wall because one of the volunteers was moving spare lumber around and popped right through the drywall AFTER the interior was painted. We also had a geyser like water leak the first week we were living there, along with the $900 water bill because no one knew it was leaking like that until the bill came... ugh. There was also a wall heater that someone forgot to screw the faceplate onto and it fell off, which is how I noticed it. Most of it was silly and simple fixes, though. Well worth it considering I never could have bought a house at that point in time.
I think my wish for you is that your build and house experience goes MUCH smoother then mine did. Mine was the first in a new area for Habitat, though. I ended up with curious people driving past my house 2 to 7 times a week, or people who had worked on the house "stopping by" to see the finished product. I am a private person and it drove me BATTY. I felt like a prisoner with the blinds closed all day and acting like I was not home. It ended up being part of why I let my ex keep the house without fighting him for it at all when I moved out.
Any updates on that?
