I had written the first five stanza last Spring, but was not happy with the last line. Well, I kept working on it, editing it and this poem grew longer. Some recent positive comments by my friends on Gather gave me the needed spark to finish and share it with you.
Colors run together
Like each vine within rhyme
Streams filled with memories
Awash on shore's of time
Forgetmenots anew
Like the dawn of each day
Brings us closer in truth
As the sands slide away
Folders filled and brimming
Like a mist on roiled seas
Bits and Pieces that lie
Beyond reach of lost dreams
Engines that said they could
Like child's heart has believed
A molded clay takes its shape
Then struggles to break free
Minutes of any plan
Like seconds do obey
Hurry up and off they ran
The sun has set today
Yes the sun is setting
And all the wonder known
Was a present giving
Gentle warmth to our soul
Look back not with longing
But with smiles you can save
For moments keep singing
Life is a holiday
Aches and pains may slow us
But this is how life runs
And it doesn't help much
Yet dew of dawning comes
To remind us of light
And hopes made from thin air
That still retain our right
To love and always care
So if you are dreaming
Let us walk in the sands
And remember meaning
Of life our precious friend

"Forgetmenots anew
Like the dawn of each day
Brings us closer in truth
As the sands slide away"
Those are my favorite lines.
In that case, it's perfect.
I love the same verse that Bhawana quoted.
"Aches and pains may slow us
But this is how life runs"
So true!
All good things come to those who waits....and writes.....and reads.
I shall forget this Not.
lately, wonderful
way it was penned; right now my mind just went blank!!
Thank you for this lovely poem.
