I watch Glen Beck,but missed this.I knew he had a problem with alcohol.I agree with most of his opinions,but if this were someone else ,doing this with their child,he would be outraged.

He is so conservative. I don't think Ted Kennedy would advocate this. I am truly outraged and Rush Limbaugh is another with his drugs.

I just don't get that. I really don't get it. It seems like he'd be getting her butt into a program. I sure as heck wouldn't be giving her alcohol. Is she in like high school or college? I just can't believe Beck would do that.

I like Gleen B. If he just meant he rather her drink at home I could see his point. Do we know her age? I thought she was in college. She couold be 18=20. I don't think he meant he keeps her at home drinkinng all day.

I agree, the thing I don't understand is why go on National radio and devulge family problems. Especially ones that are going to bring harsh criticism, and won't help anyone. Shame on him.

If he wasn't just messin' with the audience, the man needs serious help and CPS should be notified - if the girl is under 21, of course.

As for Rush, he was addicted to prescription painkillers. That's a whole 'nother animal. He's clean, now, and has been for nearly 2 years.

I try to find a decent Conservative talk show and all I find are half truths, moronic attacks on liberals and praise for the Master of Disaster Bush. You obviously did not listen to the entire program or do not really listen to him regularly. Glenn was trying to make a point using satire (which he does fairly regularly). He did not really give his daughter alcohol. So everybody just calm down.

L P is probably right about that, the guy is not THAT dumb, he is even dumber because he is so caustic about the Liberal viewpoints (anything at all to the left of his) ... I have watched him on occasion, as I do with other far right wing pundits, in order to find out why so many people on that 'side' are so screwed up, so hateful and nasty ... it is because they are in fear and need always to have an enemy to blame it on,. the left and Muslims in general it seems.

I have watched him a couple of times and what he had to say, was interesting. I really like his point of views so far. I didnt see the show that you are referring to, but I do find it hard to believe that he would be contributing to her problem, especially when he does acknowledge his dependence on alcohol at one time in his life. If he were to of said this, I would think that surely , he would know that there will be serious repercussions for his actions. Are you sure this wasn't taken wrong?

Good for you Vickey, people become addicted to drugs without even realizing it. One problem is pain meds are handed out so randomly.

Limbaugh got caught twice with prescriptions that weren't his. Once for the pain killer and once for Viagra. I'm not kidding.

I listen to Glenn Beck almost every day. I agree with most of what he says and really enjoy him. However, today was different.

No, I didn't catch the very beginning of the show, just from 9:05 to 9:20. At first, I thought he was being sarcastic. The things he was saying, about giving his daughter alcohol, and other things even worse, I could barely believe. I kept waiting for the punchline ... "No, I'm just kidding!" It never came. Then he started getting callers who AGREED with him! "I've got sons at home, age 17, and we give them alcohol if they want it."

I would like to believe he was just being sarcastic, but he went too far, if that's the case. It was almost like a "War of the Worlds" scenario, where the joke is taken so far that people actually believe it. I hope, this time, it was a joke. :/

if you actually kept on listening to him after that, you would have heard him say that he was being sarcastic and that he was just proving how stupid it was for schools to hand out birth control pills because "they're gonna do it anyway". He doesn't actually give his daughter alcohol. He's a mormon, they don't drink alcohol

Actually ... this week he is totally serious. Check this out; it's from today's show.

I believe Glenn was making a point. He was describing something absurd, which is, give his kid alcohol, she's gonna do it anyway; then went on to explain the stupidity of the school system in Maine which plans to give middle school children (girls) birth control pills - they are going to have sex no matter what (which is the prevailing attitude) and their parents by and large have abandoned them (more of the school officials' attitude) so the school needs to 'protect' these kids from pregnancy at the age of 11.

Take the time to put whatever bit you might hear into context.

As I said below--people hear what they want and spin it the way they can make it look this way or that.

I think the important thing to realize is that the conversation continued. As someone else noted above, it was taken out of context, and that it was sarcasm in response to the birth control pills being distributed. He wasn't saying he gives his daughter alcohol and aspirin in the morning, he was using it as an example of how his kids cannot get an aspirin without a note from mom or dad, but the kids can get birth control. If you only heard part, I can see how it could be taken out of context.

I think we all have a very bad tendency to only hear what we want to hear and then SPIN it to fit our agenda.

Birth control is not analogous to alcoholism. Unfortunately, Glenn Beck was just showing his ignorance. It's a shame that he wastes his talents on such nonsense.

Glen Beck USE TO be an alcoholic... listen to the whole thing and you would understand what he was talking about. He is the only person that brings up topics that SHOULD be reported. Due to the media's love affair with the president, no one brings up these topics except him.

Much better if they just hide all that stuff and keep it under the blankets---how dare a talk show host be honest about what happens in his/her life--dreadful, dreadful, dreadful.

One of the things I like about Glen is his openess--he doesn't pretend he's anythingother than who he is--also, he is not a journalist, he, like Rush is a commentator. Gives him a lot more room to air his personal views.

Ok I am neither pro nor anti Glenn Beck and I am making this comment in fairness to what I said on the ADL Glenn beck article. i think it is important for all americans of every poltical stripe to watch Glenn Beck because he is special even though conventionally he is a republican. When you watch Glenn Beck there are two very important points to remember. First he is a member of Alocoholics Anonymous and his rhetoric is steeped in AA lingo. Second he is mentally unbalanced and on some pretty heavy medication. I might say that third is to remember that he is entertainment but I dont consider him so. If I want enterainment I will watch HBO. The AA connection is important to understanding Beck because he does have black people and country music guys and all sorts of god talk and it all comes from the people he met and the stuff he heard at meetings. It is good because I believe he has actually met alot of different people unlike say republican commentator Sean Hannity. Also always remember that this guy is seriously miked up on some anti depressants you can see it in his face and the way he combs his hair, even though he wears a ton of makeup. Watch him sweat those mood stabilizers out of his system everday at 5 oclock. Overall I think Beck is a big sign of the times and again even though some wont stand his rhetoric well he is important to watch once in a while. Personally I'm half a republican and can barely sit through one of his shows but I try because I think it is important to understand him and what is really going on in this country. Heck half the people in this country are high on anti depressants just like him.
