Some of the fondest memories we have are from campouts with our favorite Scoutmaster, Armadillo. Big and strong, "Army" was wise and confident -- he made our campouts fun and safe.

We'd follow him down a trail into the woods.

He knew the safest way across the river...

.. and all the coolest places to explore!

After the long hike, we'd set up camp and swap tales about what we'd seen. As darkness fell, the stories seemed to take on a life of their own and become Adventures.

Raspberry had a tall tale about the hedgehog who went fishing and caught a magic trout-- it got bigger every time she caught it.

Bob told a story of hedgehogs who went looking for fossils -- and found the last of the dinosaurs! A real brontosaurus!

Hedgie had the spookiest tale, though -- where a Giant Cave Spider jumped out from the rocks! Everybody agreed that was the best, even if it was completely unreal.

Nothing like that would ever really happen.

Debbie, the hedgies always know more than they let on.
Wendy, I'll take your word for it, okay? I should have sent a hedgehog home with you.
Janna, you might want to consider velcro if they're going to try a roller coaster. I can see where they might join the ranks of Amelia Earhart and Jimmy Hoffa otherwise.
Tonia, I have a CD I've been meaning to mail down to you. Maybe I should send along a hedgehog contingent for some horseback adventures... Ideally, I'd get a roadworthy car and drive down there myself. (Frank just isn't up to it, though -- 306, 000+ miles now.)
Absolutely imagination inspiring.
I didn't even put in the scariest of them all.
It's wonderful to see that the hedgies were missed and welcomed back so warmly -- thank you all for stopping by! They also went on a field trip to a living history exhibit, but that will wait until November, I think, to fit in with that Thanksgiving motif.
Dame Ruth, my sons are often collaborators on these projects, or inspiration for a storyline. In fact, my husband Kevin is the one who built the hedgehogs' tent here.
