Last night, I got to meet up with some of my fellow Etsy sellers. We had a wonderful time talking, crafting, and otherwise being silly, and I'm a little surprised that we didn't get more odd looks because of our laughter. Then again, I may have been too busy laughing to notice. :)
The highlights of my evening, though, were the two kids (20 months and 5 years old) that tagged along with their mom to the meeting. She had asked me to make a hat for each of them, and I've already made one hat for her daughter. I had finished the second hat for her daughter, so I was able to see her try it on. It looked absolutely perfect on her, and she seemed to enjoy wearing it, too.
As for her son, I hadn't finished his hat yet, because I wanted to let him tell me what colors he wanted. Since he's 5, I figured he might have some ideas. He wanted green and grey, so I took two colors of green and let him choose which one he liked better with the grey. He chose the one that I had originally thought looked really odd with the grey, but once I started making the hat, I realized that this little boy has a wonderful eye for color! I didn't quite finish his hat for him last night, but I showed it to him before he left, and he was really happy to see it.
As much as I love selling my crafts to people I don't know, I also really love selling my stuff to people who I do know, or who I get to see enjoying it. The only member of this family who doesn't have one of my hats yet is the dad, and I suspect he may be wanting one soon too! :)
