We went to a cemetery today

and I was very uncomfortable in this cemetery. First it was very old and some of the graves were destroyed. Some were knocked over, broke in half, some you couldnt even read what they said and some were lifted up. I got very sad in that cemetery and had cold chills so many different times. In this cemetery was buried lots and lots of babies. Some only lived a day. It wasnt a huge cemetery but I would say almost half were babies. On the way out I told my husband I gotta get out of here and as we were walking to leave I started to cry. I felt depressed and I dont want to go back. That is a very sad cemetery. And I am getting cold chills telling you about it now. I will post pictures of some of the stones.

And my husband and best friend wonder why I don't like cemeteries. This would be why.

When we lived in Mihigan we had a cemetary for a backyard. It never bothered me.

Some of them are sad, I agree. The infants I'm willing to bet were born in the 19th century... when so many kids would die due to the lack of medical care, the death of a mother and such.

Indeed it's sad, but sometimes the memorials erected for them are the most beautiful things you've ever seen.

That is really sad. Sorry you went through that. I don't like to go through cemetaries either. It's a shame the graves aren't cared for.

Cemetery visits for us are like a family visit..sister, parents, grandpartents, great grandmother, aunts, uncles... all in the same place. It's a pretty place...green hills, lake, ducks. Several times a year we go as a group to visit, remember, tell the stories....we let the bad parts go and remember the good times and laugh. We remember all the love and count ourselves luckier than most.

I went because My husband told me about this old cemetery and so I told him I would go with him whenever we got a chance. It is in the next town over from us. It is a very sad cemetery I got a picture of one grave you cant read the name for a headstone it is a pile of stones or rocks. Yes and alot of the babies were born in the 1800's and the early 1900's. It broke my heart to see them all. The feeling I had was like a hurt heart for those mama's to lose their babies so young. Some only lived a day.

It is very sad to see a grave of a child, years ago most children didn't make it.

Infant graves always get to me. If I visit a cemetery I almost always take photos of the baby graves. I can't help it. It's my way of helping remember them.
