It was a beautiful Fall weekend in the Poconos this week. Not too cold, but the colors are gorgeous and I was able to take some wonderful photos. These few are from around the pond. I'll have to divide the photos up into categories since, as usual, I took a lot.

This is the pond which is in back of our vacation home. The colors were beautiful as you can see.

There are a few of these beautiful berry bushes which are so beautiful in the Fall.

Close up of the berries.

These bushes were loaded this year. The birds will be well fed this Winter.

I don't think I've ever seen the bushes so full. Pretty soon most of the leaves will be gone and then it will just be berries left for the winter.

Right by the pond is this dead tree which stands tall above the other trees around it. The woodpeckers love this old dead tree and by next month I'll be able to see them looking for bugs and hear them pecking their holes. I hope to be able to get some photos of them looking out of some of the bigger holes they make.
I was happy to get the chance to practice some macro and zoom shots this weekend. It worked out pretty good. I'm still learning and experimenting.
In two weeks the colors should be at their peak and I am looking forward to that trip. It will be a photographers delight.

One of my favorite spots. I was there in August.
I'll be looking forward to your photos from Peak.
Priscilla, thanks, I hope I'll get more photos and not miss the best time.
Jennifer, thanks, it is very scattered up there also. Hope I don't miss the peak of colors.
Marianne, thanks.
The fall in PA is gorgeous. It's so beautiful when the leaves are turning. Great pictures.
Melissa, thanks. I don't eat anything I find in the woods, but the birds eat them.
JoAnne, thanks.
Marian, Thank you. It's always pretty there.
It is a deciduous holly (meaning it loses its leaves in the winter).
Kathleen, thanks so much, I'm still learning.
Bobbi, thanks for the information. I hope to see your photos of them.
Jessie, thanks for the feature.
very nice Nana
we have woodpeckers in our woods. I'll have to show you the damages they have done to the trees, but it's okay.. most of them were dead anyways. It gets rather loud in our backyard when we have 5 or more going at the same time. lol

This is a tough year to judge when the leaves will peak. Yesterday I called a hotel in West Virginia to make reservations and they told me the New River valley is still green.
It looks like I should head for the Poconos.
You can go to the Poconos website and they will tell you what stage the colors are in.
