So some guy, who later found out was called David, hit on my on Friday evening Long Island Railroad commute. David is 29 and a jewelry designer who works in the diamond district in NYC and also dabbles in real state. He asked if he could call me so I handed him my card and he took my cell phone number down. He promptly called me the following day asking me if I’d like to go to dinner with him that night.
I had just cancelled a date with someone else (a whole other story altogether) so I agree and he said “I’ll pick you up at 8.” He called at 7 and asked if we could make it 8:30. I said fine, although at the point the lateness lost him some points.
He picked me up and was looking very good in a suit and sweater. He kissed me on the cheek and opening the car door for me, winning over major brownie points for being a gentleman. We drove to Manhattan where he had made a reservation at Salute, a restaurant on 40th and Madison. Although I was completely underdressed for this place, it was an incredible restaurant. We order a bottle of wine, salads and entrees. He was really polite throughout.
Towards the end he began coming on a little too strong, though. The part where he told me I deserve to only be treated like a princess wasn’t bad at all but when he started saying he could make all my wildest fantasies and dreams come true, I started freaking out a little bit (on the inside). I felt he was coming on a little strong for a first date. And on top of it, he doesn’t even know what my wildest dreams and fantasies are!!!!
We sat at dinner from about 9:30 until midnight, after which he drove me home.
He called me yesterday in the evening asking if he could stop by and say hello, or give me a massage since I was achy from my tennis lesson that morning. I said no (I had been in pajamas all day and wasn’t looking all that great, plus I thought it was a little soon for him to be inviting himself over to give me a rub down).
We will see what happens if he asks me out again. I have not decided if I’m interested in taking it further or not. Chances are, since I’m not THAT excited and since I’m totally unsure, it won’t go anywhere. He did text me this morning from the train to tell me to have a wonderful day!!!!
If nothing else, getting hit on by some random guy on the train certainly boosted my confidence :-)
