Sundays are my only days off. So I try to do as much as I can with my kids on those days! With fall being my favorite season I decided we would do 'things you do in the fall'. So we got up early this morning and I cooked a nice hot breakfast for all of us. We sat down and ate together. This was nice ... we don't get to do it to often because normally they are rushing off for school .. or I am getting home from work.
Next we went to the local grocery store. We bought some food for a 'fall' picnic. While we were there the local grocery store has a promotion going where if the kids color a picture they can have a free pumpkin... any pumpkin they want! So we all sat down at the deli and the kids colored pictures and turned them in. Then they went and picked out the pumpkins.
My four year old got a little one. My eight year old got a big one! Then my two oldest kids grabbed the biggest they could find! :)
Then we all headed for the pumpkin patch and apple orchard. There they had a nice little playground. The kids played and played. They all had a blast.
Then we walked to their little petting 'zoo' and pet the animals they had there. My four year old son Jamell kept asking me if the animals were going to bite him! :)
Then after seeing the animals we took a long hayride to the apple orchard and pumkin patch. We picked lots of apples .... then we took the hayride back.
We went inside the cider mill next. They were making fresh cider and donuts. So we bought some fresh cider and donuts. Then we got some 'candy sticks' you know the old fashioned kind ... sort of remind you of candy canes but without the cane part. Then we went out to the picnic area and we all had a nice pic nic lunch. We were joined by the farm cat. It was very persistant and really seemed to like me .. and donuts! HA ..
So after this nice day we all headed home .. Once we got home we carved the pumpkins and then watched a movie. My four year old son and I fell asleep before the movie was over! We had a long day! :)
