While in San Diego for business I had the "chore" of hosting a group of our customers who wanted to spend a few hours at the zoo. I wish we had more time to spend there, because we were only able to cover perhaps one-third of the exhibits at the zoo. I really enjoyed the winding paths and sense that I was out in the jungle observing many of the animals in a native habitat. I was also surprised (having never been to southern California before) that many of the paths were graded and some were rather steep and hilly. That really added to my enjoyment since some animals could be observed from different elevations. Some day I hope to have the chance to return and see what I missed, but here are a few of the pictures I took:
This is the entrance to the zoo.

Who doesn't love flamingos?

Here are two of the pandas. The pandas were one of the star attractions and people were lined up for the opportunity to see them. The line moved rather quickly though, so you didn't have much time to stop and watch them, let alone take many pictures.

This Koala Bear was posing perfectly for everyone.

The elephants were really active on the day we visited. We heard they are building an even larger area for the elephants.

Most people only think of animals when they visit the zoo, and not the plants and trees. I really enjoyed all the different and exotic plants they had throughout the grounds. A Bird of Paradise may not be considered exotic, but I still find them to be stunning.

Cute little panda too!
If you do make it back to San Diego, check out the Wild Animal Park. I enjoyed the zoo but liked the Wild Animal Park better.
what a chore! LOL
