I was quite inspired.
In a similar spirit to his writing...
Here are 22 ways to be a good Republican:
1. You have to believe that criticizing a general is wrong, but criticizing wounded veterans is ok.
2. You have to believe that the President of The United States is a monarch and that congress are merely his/her functionaries.
3. You have to believe that corporate welfare is okay, while public welfare is not.
4. You have to believe that the only role of government is the protection of our borders.
5. You have to believe that wounded soldiers do not deserve the best medical care.
6. You have to believe that freedom and liberty are righteously granted by the government solely to those they deem deserving, instead of being God given to all mankind.
7. You have to believe that cutting down ninety percent of the trees, black-topping and concreting billions of acres, and dumping industrial wastes into the air, streams and onto the land have no effect on the environment.
8. You have to believe that corporate profits are more important than civilian incomes.
9. You have to believe that AIDS is God's curse on the immoral, and not a sexually transmitted disease that effects anybody who is innocent.
10. You have to believe that lying about a sexual dalliance between two consenting adults is worse than an ill-begotten war that has cost thousands of lives and trillions of dollars.
11. You have to believe that one specific religion is right, and that it should dominate and dictate all actions within our government.
12. You have to believe that hiring immigrants (legal or not) is more important than paying a living wage to American workers.
13. You have to believe that the needs of businesses are more important than the needs of the people.
14. You have to believe that only guilty people get executed or imprisoned.
15. You have to believe that adherence to the law is more important than truth or justice.
16. You have to believe that making money is more important than anything else.
17. You have to believe that buying tainted goods from a communist country is more important than making safer goods here.
18. You have to believe that cutting off funds will help struggling schools do better.
19. You have to believe that not everyone's vote should be counted.
20. You have to believe that having it your way is all that matters.
21. You have to believe that doing something wrong is okay as long as you achieve success and don't get caught.
22. You have to believe that America really has a free market economy, and that corporations are run by conscientious angels.

Now, I know that this does not apply to all Republicans, but it does seem to fit the mindset of those who have been in control of that party for the past decade.

Seems to be an appropriate place for this type of empty criticism.
Was there anything in your rant that you could call an idea of your own?
I responds with my on 23 ways also for the same reason. All three 'lists' are terribly troubling to me. Have we lost the capacity in this country to talk about those with whom we do not agree without flings such stones? I hope we all fanned enough flames for the fires of intolerance get closer to expiring.

Grateful 1 - Yes, I'd say a lot of these ideas were my own. The fact that organizations like Media Matters and MoveOn.org use these as talking points IS interesting. Maybe I should check them out.
I don't really consider this a rant. When I rant, I use complete sentences and passionate language. This is just a list, albeit an apparently poorly crafted one.
Lex Luthor - All you have to do to start one is post something that seems pro- or anti- Republicans, Democrats, Conservative or Liberal.

I did not see the earlier list, but anything that draws the ire of Grateful 1 and the drive-by lunacy of Lex Luther, and the prissy tut-tut of Donald C has got to be pretty good.
1. You have to be against abortion because life is precious but only before your born.
2. You have to believe that businesses DON"T exist to make money and government has NO responsibility to its citizens.
3. You believe that a country with one of the largest nuclear arsenals in the world and the only one to use them on a civilian population (twice) should be loved worldwide.
4. You have to believe Federal Funding exists only to paying governmental salaries and governmental health care.
5. You have to believe that the burning of fossil fuels cleans the air.
6. You have to believe that homosexually is a contagious disease.
7. You believe that federal funding has no power to help stop the spread of AIDS at all.
8. You have to believe that it's the teacher's job to talk to kids about sex. Not parents.
9. You have to believe that 'activists' should be released into nature to be hunted with assault rifles.
10. You believe you have credibility is a fringe benefit of holding public office.
11. You have to believe no bid contracts given to companies for outside an area effected by disaster is better than giving that same money to local companies to rebuild their own homes and businesses.
12. You have to believe that the right to bear arms is more important than all other civil liberties.
13. You have to believe taxes are too high but medicare payments are too low.
14. You have to believe that Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Relly are more important than F. D. R. and J. F. K.
15. You have to believe standardized tests with made by those of anglo-saxon ancestry contain elements that all other cultures should understand intuitively.
16. You have to believe that George W. Bush is articulate.
17. You have to believe that Medicare is NOT socialized medicine.
18. You have to believe an act of infidelity is just as bad as lying to get into war.
19. You have to believe that everyone should free speech is only for straight people.
20. You have to believe that the Chinese government funding of American debt is in the best interest of the United States.
21. You have to believe this message is a from a backwoods, black southern liberal that has no idea what's going in this country.
22. You believe it's OK to say 'Merry Christmas' but not 'Happy Hanukkah'.

Thanks so much!!! I wish could have a more civil and productive dialog with the original author and his ilk. It makes me sad that we just can't discuss issue differences without slinging insults.
