A Poem.......and nothing more.........

I miss you sometimes

When the night closes in

And remember the sound of your voice

I fault you for none

Of the things that have been

It was I who refused you a choice

I smother sometimes

When I sit all alone

And my mind sees so much dead and gone

All the things I have done

All the people I've known

Left behind so that I could go on

I think of your smile

When I'm all by myself

Memories make the room seem so small

I thought I had riches

I thought I had wealth

But I really had nothing at all

It's frightening sometimes

When my heart beats too fast

And I'm banging my head on the floor

There's but one simple thing

I'd retrieve from the past

And that's to see your sweet smile just once more

But the river flows on

And the years move on by

And we each slowly fade out of sight

But I'll still think of you

And I'll try not to cry

When the mem'ries close in late at night
