Grave Shots

I am starting another group on Gather called Grave Shots. Cemeteries are interesting, they hold not only the remains of people...but history. I have noticed that many of us on here do take graveyard shots and that is good. Those who went before us will not be forgotten.

I had been thinking about this for here, but when I saw Jennifer's article this morning it dawned on me to finally do it!

 

 

 

George Jacobs- one of the Witch trial victims. His remains are the only ones that have been found. All of the others were buried in secret, since they were not allowed to have a proper burial. He was reburied on the Rebecca Nurse Homestead. Her remains is somewhere in the cemetery, but they do not know where.

wow an nice piece of history, a very sad history.
My guess is that if it did get broken or weathered, they probably replaced it.

Actually, this headstone was probably made in the 1900's for the man. His secret grave had been discovered and he was given the proper burial that he deserved. This why it is in such perfect condition. I realized after I posted this that I didn't specify that part. But I have to say, many of the headstones I saw that day were in fairly decent condition.

Trista, the one who was pressed was Giles Cory. He was actually pressed in a field that is next to the jail..the field is a graveyard on Howard St.
