October is perhaps the mostly beautiful month in New England. The skies are deeper blue, the trees burst with red and gold leaves and the pumpkins treat us to the splashes of bright orange.
A visit to a local farmstand recently, reminded me why I love living in New England. Everywhere I looked there was a cacophony of color. No prefab mall or theme park could ever match th
e fun or natural beauty of a farm visit in the fall.
The entrance to the farm stand provided a welcoming array of mums overseen by a friendly ghost.
The ghost may have seen tacky in a mall, but here he melded into his surroundings nicely and added a bit of humor to the tranditional landscape.

While oranges, yellows and browns were prevelant, the flash of purple from the "vampire" and magenta mums provided a nice burst of color. It was great contrast to the masses of yellow flowers. The day was slighly overcast; without shadowing, the colors seemed even more intense.

The experience was uniquely American, from the flag flying to the hayrides, corn maze and sea of pumpkins waiting to become jack-o-lanterns.

The farmstand was an absolute visual treat.
