I was pleasantly suprised to see Nigella has a new show on the Food Network called Nigella Express. I hadn't saw any advertizements about this and that is unusual since I watch the food shows pretty often. I caught the first episode Everyday Easy, after it had been on about 5 minutes this morning. Her husband and 2 children were on eating the first things she had prepared some Roast Poussin/Cornish Hen and Sweet Potatoes. I caught the end of her making the hens.
I enjoyed Nigella's previous shows on The Food Network, Nigella Feasts and Nigella Bites. I also enjoyed the shows she had on E and Style previous to her coming to the Food Network. My daughter and I have all her cookbooks except her first, How to Be a Domestic Goddess, which of course we want too. My husband bought me an autographed copy of Forever Summer for my birthday and our 24th anniversary in 2003 while he was working in CA.
On the first episode I saw she gave lots of hints and tips on how ot get dinner on the table quickly for you family. She showed things in her freezor that she had prepared in advance that she could turn to for a quick family meal later. One of the things she had made was cheese stuffed fresh pasta that she said you could add frozen, to boiling water or stock and have ready in 2 minutes. Another item that she says she keeps plenty of in her freezor is homemade chicken nuggets which she says can then be ready in 7 minutes.
The calamari she made on the show for her and a friend's dinner looked easy and delicious. Nigella called it Crispy Squid and she served it with garlic mayonaise. We love calamari and have made it at home so I think I'm going to have to try her recipe. The cider, cream, mustard pork chops she made for another meal also looked and sounded very good. She then made a nice looking sinful bread pudding. She seemed to make many dishes in this 30 minute show. I'm looking forward to seeing more of Nigella Express. It's on the shedual for Sunday's at 10:30 AM EST.

Anyone else catch this one and if so how did you like it?
I just found out she also has a cookbook by the same title, Nigella Express. It is due to be released Nov, 2007. Guess what just got added to my wish list? You can read more about it at amazon.com and the following link:

I enjoyed the first one. I was surprised that she did a quick cooking food show. I guess the food network wanted a RR show from Nigella. I liked it alot and will watch the rest. I thought the calamari recipe looked delicious, so did the cornish hens. That was her dad with her in the first segment. I have never seen him before on any of her other shows. It was good to see her children too. They are getting so big. I remember seeing her son on Nigella Bites and he was so little.
Anyway, thanks for the links to the recipes. I can't wait to copy them.
I am making a cake recipe from Feast for Trevor's birthday in the next week or so. Can't wait.
Susan, glad you enjoyed the shoe too.
Carolyn, hope you catch it next time.
Risa, thanks for clearing up that it was her Dad and not her husband. I just assumed hubby since they were calling each other dear and darling and such and I heard she married an older man after her husband died. I had saw her children before with her on her shows but not her Dad or her husband.
