Not only is the United States government looking the other way when it comes to illegal immigrant criminals but they are encouraging them to come here and work.
The IRS has issued more than 8 million federal tax ID numbers. And let’s face it that is probably a very conservative estimate.
Why is this happening?
Here are two reasons I can think of..
First the IRS feels it will encourage these people to pay taxes on income they shouldn’t be earning. Let’s face it the government is just looking at dollars and cents. More money in the government bank to fund the Iraq war and buy $30,000 toilet seats. The ironic part is that this isn't happening. Most of these criminals don't feel they NEED to pay taxes. After all its not like they are citizens and are FORCED to pay taxes. They have their cake or in this case taco...and eat it too.
Second the banks are catering to the illegal criminals. Since real citizens can’t seem to pay their bills because either an illegal has taken their jobs or their job has been shipped to China these financial institutions have been bending over backwards to grant loans to these criminals. When you have 20 families crammed into a 3 bedroom house, even at minimum wage they can still pay their house payments.

They come here for the gains they get and dont bother to think about what they are doing to the economy of this country.
Its not up to me to make them legal they should have done that before they got here. They are just too lazy to go through the proper channels to LEGALLY come to the USA.
Wouldn't you do anything to make sure your children and family have the things they need? Most of them just want to make life better for their kids, that's the american dream. That's probably why your family came here.
You go try to live in a place like mexico where there is an oppressive goverment and see if you trust any government enough to put your family's life in their hands. People need to understand that these people are encourged to leave mexico by their own government. For the most part they have no idea what to do just that they need to do something before they have no chance at all.
When given the chance I've never seen one say no I don't want to become american. The key here is helping them rather than bitching about something that isn't going to go away. Face it this is a fact that is here to stay.
So lets not give them small pox blankets, lets not force them to do ungodly work for no pay, lets learn from the horrible things down in past immigration waves and show the world why we are a super power. We care and learn from the past.
Why is it that you feel the USA doesnt have to have immigration laws and other countries do?
Most of the 9/11 hijackers were here illegally....do you support them too? Should we just look the other way when it comes to anyone coming to this country?
Isnt that why we lock our doors at night so not everyone gets in? Shouldnt we monitor who comes through our borders the same way?
FOR THE LAST TIME - THE ANSWER TO THIS PROBLEM IS GETTING A PROGRAM SET TO HELP GET THESE PEOPLE LEGAL. Not the crappy republician i'm too scared of change send them all back - they all rape our women and kill our children idea. (And i get that from the email saying that 90 percent of crime is done be illegals do the math that is an impossible figure.)
But again my point all along - THE ANSWER IS A PROGRAM TO GET THEM LEGAL - NOT DEPORTATION.
In my part of Iowa we have several chicken plants that employ many illegal immigrants. After one of the INS raids about 2 years ago it came out that many of the illegals women working there had been raped and sexually harassed but didnt report any of it because they were afraid to be deported.
The fact is that our immigration system is broken and we need to fix it. Yes these people need to come here legally. I have no doubt that many of them are just looking for a better life but starting out as criminals is not the way to do it. And frankly the INS is so backed up with ILLEGALS that they cant admit anyone LEGALLY.
Now do you get it?

Fast forward to the 1980's and beyond. We have a fragile economy, we are beginning to lose jobs to overseas, and illegal immigration starts to skyrocket. I'm not talking about immigrant farm workers, I'm talking about folks sneaking into our country illegally, and taking away real jobs from real citizens who already lived here. And ever since that time, they freely come here, and overtax our already failing medical, government, and social programs, and pay very little into the system.
I have nothing against Mexicans, and have even travelled there, and spend my money there. My daughter is legally adopted from China. I'm against illegal mass immigration what is what we have been seeing. Even our legal immigration numbers are off the scale compared to 1960-1970.
Comparing the original immigration into our country to illegal immigration today is like comparing a horse and buggy to a rocket ship! No other country on this planet would allow the massive illegal immigration that we do, and it certainly is not for the betterment of our country in any way. It's to dumb down our country, and create a massive amount of cheap labor with few workers rights. Hmmmm...I can't imagine big business opposing illegal immigration! Every new illegal immigrant makes the dollars you now have worth less and less.
Just imagine if we let every single poor, illiterate person on the planet come to our country (like they want to)! Our population would soar to about 4 billion, and poverty would be beyond belief! Is that what you want for your children?

Ghosty what the H are you talking about. Mexicans were not the first to settle the land at all. The tribes in North America and the tribes in Mexico are two different things. The only land the Mexicans settled was ceeded to Texas at the end of the war for Texas independance. Some more was ceeded at the end of the Mexican American War.

I think you're right. The fence alone is not enough. In addition is needed
workplace enforcement, but also big time pressure on Mexico. This could start with
diplomacy. Noting Mexico's arrogance, that probably won't work. So, phase 2, economic sanctions. If that doesn't work, either warship and airspace blockades all around Mexico, or an old fashioned ass kicking, 1848 style, will do it.

We are reminded ~ every day ~ that our country was founded and built by persons coming here from other parts of the world. And those that came here formed the laws that (are meant to) protect us.
I work with a man who is here illegally. He's been here for about twelve years. He and his girlfriend have two children. Guess where those kids were born? In a U.S. hospital where their butts were stamped "U.S. CITIZEN" before they were sent home to their illegal parents ~ and guess who ended up footing the bill? Mom finally got her "Permanent Resident" card, then applied for and worked hard for her U.S. citizenry. (sp.) She did it for her kids. What about Papa? He took the short-cut; he married the mother of his children. Instant validation to keep him here. Recently I asked him if he would now seek citizenship. His answer was "NO F*ING WAY!". Their family plan is to stay here for a while, save the money that they don't pay in taxes, and go back to where they came from and build a house............and collect Social Security benefits when they reach the redemption age. (Automatic deposit to a foreign bank.)
If you think for one single minute, Ghostly, that these folks come here to enrich our nation, you are sadly mistaken. A testimony to their loyalty to the U.S. was recently displayed at the Montebello, California High School.....the teen aged attendees of the school (children of ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS!) took down the American flag. They raised the flag of Mexico on the flag pole, followed by the American flag turned upside down.
Their comments to the press? Freedom of Speech. No one was cited for their actions.
About a month ago, several THOUSANDS of illegal immigrants took to the streets of California in protest ~ demanding their "rights". 'SCUSE ME...they're ILLEGAL! What "rights" are they talking about?
Reopen Ellis Island.....it was a good idea while it lasted.
Otherwise they don't care if they break our laws because the money difference is just too ridiculously much to resist.
And if they have to be paid fairly over there then our factories won't all outsource to 3rd world countries. Strong labor laws will help us both.
Christine your #4 point is excellent, I've been doing this for a while now. It costs a bit more but I really try to buy American. I go to Kmart for 'deiselkleen' only, this is once a year. We need a site that will tell us what companies are hiring ALL Americans.
I am willing to pay more. I want to pay more for products and don't want to pay more for illegals.
For all those who want the illegal aliens I say under 1 condition. We separate the US money so my taxes don't go to illegals and yours do. How long will you last without my money? To help the world out is great, I just don't have it.
There are some very good solutions here only they should ALL be tried at once. We don't have the luxury of trying one plan at a time, we are losing this great country as we speak.

At one time, I was sympathetic to the cause of the illegal immigrants. Then the owner of a local Mexican restaurant told me that he could get Social Security cards faked for illegal immigrants. His price was $100.00 for a fake number, or $250.00 for a stolen number. That's when I changed my tune.
I have to agree with Peter Swanson in the betterring of life in the other countries in the world, maybe even think about uniting the western hemisphere in a real "U.S.A."

I come outside and they are stealing my iron planters given to me by my mother with the flowers still in them.

I go to the store and see sirens on the way because some drunk illegal crashed his low rider into a phone pole and hit a woman crossing the street.
I drop off my nephew who goes to a private day school because if he went to a public one his teachers would have to spend 60% of their time dealing with the kids who cannot understand the language and have no interest in learning it in the first place.
What about the Federal Laws? Hell..........when an American breaks a Federal Law, we go to Federal prison. But if you come from Mexico...............you just sneak back over the border and then come back again when things cool down.
I have never had such contempt for an entire group of people as I do now and it is so sad because I would prefer not to be full of hatred. I would prefer to love all people but it boils my insides when I hear and see so much crap and there is nothing I can do about it except learn Spanish and build a wall around my home.

Regarding immigration issues: we can't afford to let the illegal aliens keep pouring in without consequences. It has reached a critical level and will only get worse if we don't stem the flow and make these people face reality: if they want to come here, there is a legal means by which they need to do it, just like the rest of us an our ancestors.
It is insulting to those who follow the rules to let others get by without doing so.
