Another Look at Edaville Railroad ~ in Sepia

Good work, Bob! It feels very '30s.

What wonderul photos!!! I love going back to places I visited as a child. I always find something that brings back a good memory that I completely forgot about.

Roy, I actually created this article last night but decided to post it this morning so people would have a chance to look at the modern Edaville first. I was also going to go over to Mom's to go through old photos of the family all bundled up at Christmas at Edaville....but then it was late and I didn't want to disturb her....by this morning that thought had flown from my mind and I posted without a thought to making the article more personable. Today when I go over there, I will check out her photos and perhaps, just perhaps you'll see Bob at three or four!!!

Yesterday it was hot and humid and I actually went swimming after the festival....more to give Tuck a bath in the pond then to actually do any swimming...but the water was incredibly warm (as it is in July) so I took the plunge! This morning a rather cool north east wind blows off the pond...I doubt there will be any swimming today. Today it feels like fall!

Barb...Edaville does hold warm memories for me!

I don't like sepia. I lived in historical times and it was all in vivid color. It is the folks who no longer realize the immediacy of the times who see it in sepia.

I don't much care for most sepia photos either, Ruth ... but it does have the effect of making photos look historical

I thought the sepia might work when I was taking some of the pictures, Madame Donna...but only getting back to my computer room did I see that it was true.

Seeing the pink ribbon on your comment made me think of the eleven town's people (three of which work in my school system) raising $52,000 for the Breast Cancer Walk held last Friday. Though they were given permission in July, The Supt. rescinded the leave of absence on Wednesday saying that "according to contract, one could not take a personal day backing up to a three day week-end. Despite knowing there would be consequences this Tuesday, the three walked on Friday!!! Such courage of conviction should be applauded!!!!

Keep experimenting faith...I keep experimenting. When are you going to have Joey hook you up to Skype. Had a long conversation with him this morning at 7 A.M (course it was the end of the day for him) ....were your ears burning as you slept....since we were wishing it was a three or four way conversation.

Thanks magi....was over Mom's for lunch today and was looking for the photo albums of when we were young at Edaville and then Fran stopped by and said she had taken them to have copies made for all of us....! They were great period photos....Mom used to dress all three girls alike and make us stand like soldiers from oldest to youngest.

Faith...Joey....Skype....incredible conversations out of the computer.

Marge...it should be an interesting deal going down on Tuesday. One of the eleven walkers is the chairwoman of the school committee.....so not only will you have every teacher, except maybe those without tenure, but i imagine even most of them, will be dressed in pink on
Tuesday in support but also there just be a confrontation between supt. and school committee. We'll have to wait for Tuesday to see how this all plays out.

This was EXCELLENT Bob....in one of your photos there is a lightness before the barn boards. I know I am not seeing things! I remember coming here at least once a year when I was growing up...recently I had driven by that exit and wondered if it is still open! I LOVE these in sepia, what a GREAT idea!

Bob, I love sepia toned images. The mood is much more pronounced in them and some images come out so pretty. I particularly liked the ones with the creeper on the old wooden wire windows and the old cabin on the hillside.
Very effective. Looking forward to the little Bob photos now!

And Jenn...your not seeing things....I did feel a strange sensation and even noted it to Papa at the time...and when I downloaded I saw the "strangeness" of the photo...wasn't clear and crisp like the others...and wondered....well, we won't go into that now! LOL!

Minnie...it was fun as I was walking around the festival since I had two photo-essays in mind... isn't that like a woman....multi-tasking even when taking pictures....in the end these were the ones I chose for sepia. Maybe I'll go back and do the train ones in sepia and see what they look like.

I love the ferris wheel shot! It was fun travelling back in time!!

Just came across this due to another article.. I actually have one of the original framed pictures of their first train.. I was going to put it in Justin's room but it really does not match anything in there.
