I organzied a father daughter dance for my Girl Scout Service Unit with another leader. The event was last night and despite a couple minor snags, (the cake was decorated incorrectly and the place was really hot! plus, our 2 troops were the only ones who responded! Out of our entire service unit!) it was fantastic! We had about 40 people total. There were girls aging from 4 years to 12 years! It was at a dance studio and the owner taught each of the "couples" how to waltz. It was absolutely the cutest thing I have ever seen! The dads had to ask the daughters to dance! That was followed by an hour of freestyle dancing to Hannah Montana and High School Musical. We played some games and raffled off some prizes. I think we are going to make this an annual thing!
The only thing that bugged me was that the other leader brought her 2 sons. They are 9 and 11. Instead of dancing with the girls who didn't have a partner (a couple of the dads had more than one daughter) they were running around, drinking all the punch, and just behaving horribly. She didn't correct them either! Ugh! I really like the lady, other than the fact that she dresses right out of hot topic and has bright green hair! =) I just think that stuff should stop once you are in your 30's. But it took everything in me not to say something to her about her sons.
Anyway, I just wanted to share this and I hope everyone is having a fantastic weekend!

I can never understand why parents take their kids to something. Than allow them to run wild and ruin other people's good time.
