Did you attend any of your high school reunions?

If you have not, do you plan to someday? 

Just curious.  Yes or no is fine.

 OR, you can write us a ittle blurb about reunions if you wish.  What were your experiences? 

Guess it depends on those to determine if you really will go or not.

Went to my 10 year and on Nov. 3 will be going to a 35th reunion/get-together. Man, I'm old. :)

I went Pre-K thru 10th here in Iowa and finished my last two years in MN.
I've been to EVERY reunion in Iowa, and have never HEARD of anything going on in MN. :-(

We went to our H.S. 10th and 20th. The 10th was mostly just an open bar and a bunch of people showing off, we didn't stay long at all. The 20th was a bit better, we actually had dinner and then bowed out because the 'beautiful people' were trying to take over the whole thing and it wasn't worth staying.
Yes I have been to 2 and probably won't go to another unless it's my 50th...I figure that's one to celebrate! I hope you have fun at your reunion, reconnect with old friends and just have a relaxing time of it....

No, I didn't even know anything about it. I wouldn't go anyway, though. I couldn't stand most of them when I was in school - what makes me think 10 years later that would change?

I've been out of high school for 44 years. I went to the first couple and then stopped. I discovered that most attended to show everyone else how successful they became, how thin they still were, etc. I liked all of my classmates (I attended a small school in a small town-it was great fun!) but have and still do keep in touch with those whom I considered friends. I will probably attend my 50th. But go, have a good time, and then make a decision about if you want to attend future reunions.

no. I live in Missouri and I graduated from high school in El Paso, TX. I don't remember 90% of the class I graduated with, but I'm sure they would remember me. In our class photo, I was the only redhead out of over 500 seniors.

I graduated in 1970 from a school that stopped being used in about 1985 and is now being made into sr. citizen apartments. Pittsburgh is a funny place. Most folks don't move from there. As a result, my class never saw much need to have reunions, especially since the alumni association (for all years) has a yearly dinner boat cruise and dance. They can go to that if they want.

They did have a 20 year reunion, but I didn't find out about it until after the fact. I would have found a way to get there. (Was in FL then.) I tried to talk some of the folks into a 25 and 30 year, but to no avail. I guess the next one will be 50 years. Sad, 'cause by then we will have lost some more...

There were about 950 in my graduating class.

I attended k-9 in another school district, and I could probably go to those reunions. Was invited to participate, but never have.

I have not been to one. They were seeking me in the newspaper, we had moved away, and a friend gave them our address. No invite!

Nope. Was rather shy and nerdy in high school. Not many friends, and didn't keep in touch with anyone really. Still nerdy, just more opinionated these days. No interest in looking back. Funny thing tho about high school friendships and groups.... My boyfriend was one of the "bad boys" in his high school, we never would have spoken to each other. Now we are in our 50's, and soon to celebrate 3 years together.

I graduated in California and now live half way across the country. Even if I had known about them, I wouldn't have gone. For me, it wouldn't have been worth the long drive to see a bunch of people I no longer know. I'm just not that social, not then, not now.

But you enjoy yours and, when it's all over and done with, make the decision if you ever want to go to another. My best friend has gone to hers and loved it.

Yeah, I've been to 3 of mine. First two were pretty much like reliving high school. Third one, a lot of people had changed, mostly for the better.

You guys all sound a little like me, except for the ones who moved. I am still in the area of the school but 50 miles from the district. I cannot believe how many people never made it out of there. You all have good points!

I went to my ten year and my 25 yr (which was in 2005). The ten year wasn't as fun because most of the people I went to school with hadn't quite "grown up" yet and were still very cliquish. The 25 yr was more fun and I won $250 and an $800 front door in the drawings. ;-)

At my 10th reunion, I was looking for my old boy friend, the captain of the football team.....alas! My Patrick Swayze look-alike B.F. had morphed into...... wait for it....
Captain Kangaroo! ;-)

So is your reunion this coming weekend? Definitely go! Who cares what anyone looks like! Captain Kangaroo's heart was still as big as it ever was...and that's what I fell in love with in high school anyway.

And about those people who want to talk about their portfolios and are handing out their business cards? RUN, don't walk, as fast as you can to get away from them!

Uh, I guess I can answer yes now. My bf was not the captain of anything...
Found out I had few connections. I will write about it later, maybe. Still don't want to talk much about it. Sad for a writer, huh? My friends are like "what happened this weekend." I am still not sure other than I went back 20 years to a place I don't like. I was the "shy girl no one knew" all over again.

Nope - too far away. Unless anything changes, I probably won't make it to any of them in the future either. Doesn't seem worth spending all that money to go to hang out with people I haven't seen in almost 30 years. I'd rather take spend teh money on a real vacation. I went to a couple of my wife's reunions in the past since they're local. They were ok. Hope you enjoyed yours.

Yep, it's definitely not worth all the $ you spend!! Wish I would have thought about that. And I'm not even that far away. We had people in from NY, CA, etc.

Went to my 20th and was 37 and then went to my 50th and nothing but old people there, I was 67, and I don't think there are many of us left, we have passed the 60th, and didn't have one, and next year will be 64th, so I don't think I will be going to anymore. lol., Have at yours if you go, No body changes, lol.

I went to my 30th reunion. I saw "Deb"...the most beautiful high school cheerleader. Now she was divorced, disheveled, quite overweight...her life was a train wreck. Then I saw "Linda" - a tall skinny girl in high school who never had a date that I knew of. She was a millionaire model and had a wonderful family. Boys and girls...be careful what you pray for...it might come true! It reminded me of the old Bobby Bare song "The Winner".

Lucky for me I will never have to go to a high school reunion, because I won't have any. I guess they can be family reunions, lol. I was homeschooled.

I wish I had a story like Bill's, but all the popular girls looked BETTER than they did way back when. I heard rumors of a lot of plastic surgery, which I did NOT have!!

Homeschooled, hey? No rites of passage for you. Could be a good thing, though. As for me and my family, we need the socialization that school provides outside the home.

I'm not sure about going to another since my 30th turned out so bad.
I went 'home' to take part in the reunion.
The evening of the big dinner, my sister's husband decided to remodel the front of their car with a deer. Had to make a 3-hour ride to get them and missed the dinner.
The next day, as we were planning to go to the parade and then the picnic, we got word my niece had been shot and killed by her husband, who then shot himself, leaving the kids homeless.
Kinda makes me hesitant to try another....LOL

Yes. I attended mine. However, I'm from a small town where people tend to stay in touch with one another so the reunions have been more geared towards "remember this..." rather than "I haven't seen you in so long..what are you up to these days?"

I have a lot of friends from 89.

As for your comment, I can relate. I kept in touch with NO ONE and was pretty much "not needed" the entire evening. Don't think I'll make that mistake again.
