Yeah, it's really true! I got scammed first by a company called Online Inside Source, and then by another one called NorthAm Loans. Like all typical college students, I answered an ad to work from home and "earn $1,000-$3,000 a month from the comfort of home," and then the first thing that happened when Online Inside Source contacted me was that they asked me for my credit card number (BIG mistake! I ended up cancelling the old one and getting a new one), and then they said I owed $200--for what--a stupid website that only took 10-15 minutes of their precious time! Then they said they would be charging me $20 a month to keep it running (good thing I cancelled that card!) Secondly, I was referred over by them to this other online company called NorthAm Loans, which I had never heard of, and told me I owed them $975! (I didn't know what I was getting for that, and no one even contacted me to let me know that the website had even been built.) I received no email, no phone call, or anything from this NorthAm group; all I got was confirmation that I had paid the $975 fee. It went into dispute for several months afterward with my bank, but in the end I did end up having to pay it all, OUT OF MY STUDENT ACCOUNT THAT I'VE SAVED FOR COLLEGE, because the bank couldn't assist me any further with the dispute the second time I complained. Now I'm going to send in a letter in writing to NorthAm explaining to them that I shouldn't have to owe them this $975; there's got to be a way I can get my money back! When I called NorthAm about the deal, the guy I talked to was a jerk. He was so snobby, I'm just about ready to kick their freakin' ass and bring them down for good. I'm going to try to bring them down. He told me there was no refund policy on their company. I found out that they had no record of my name in their database, either. Why should I have to pay a huge charge when they've never even heard of me? These companies are SCAMS, so beware if you ever get in contact with any one of them! I learned my lesson the hard way!
(Guess most people just don't have a lot of self confidence, and if they're so desperate to earn money, why don't they go out and get themselves a job?)
Grrrrr! >:-(

I have also got caught up in a scam once, to do medical billing. They got me good, but they got you worse. Gosh. That's a lot of money to be out of in order to learn from your mistakes. :(
