If you don't want to make a spooky Halloween cupcakes, then how about a classy one? Not everyone wants to make spooky cupcakes but they may still want to do something festive. I don't want to call them plain Halloween cupcakes because that just sounds boring, so classy it is.
You can use any cake mix that you want to, but I used a carrot cake mix and used cream cheese frosting and it came out really tasty.
Bake your cupcakes as you normally would and let them cool.

Then dye the frosting orange. You can either buy orange dye from a speciality store or make your own orange dye by mixing yellow and red dye carefully. I think that a pale orange looks best for these cupcakes.

If you want your frosting to go on smoothly, after you mix
your dye in with the frosting, put the frosting in a microwave for around 25 seconds. This will make your frosting the consistancy of a thick cream. Stir it and SLOWLY pour it onto your cupcakes. It gets firm pretty quickly so you don't have to worry about it all running off and not sticking to the cupcake.

The end result is a classy looking Halloween cupcake that is plain, but beautiful. These would be perfect for a Halloween dinner party or just for a sweet treat. If you want to spruce them up a little you could add orange or purple Halloween sprinkles.
