Most of you know that my son-in-law's cousin's house burnt to the ground Saturday. I have just spent the last three days sewing many different items. In fact, I am in the process of cutting some squares down so I can start on a simple nine patch quilt.
Here are the pictures of the blankets for the four kids. They will get to pick which one they want.

I made this lap blanket using fleece binding rather than blanket binding. It is a mess on the edges because I had never used fleece binding before. But of course, I couldn't get the edges in the picture!

These next lap blankets are my husband's, but who would have ever guessed that? LOL I had to use fleece binding on the first one and I used regular blanket binding on the second one.

These are the two baby blankets I did. The Winnie the Pooh is for my grandson. I was planning on using the other fleece for a pillow for him, but it was way too big, so I just made another baby blanket instead. I figure someone I know will end up having another baby and I will already have a gift ready to go!

I did have some smaller pieces of fleece leftover from a ponco I made last year, so I made my grandson a pillow out of it. He can't really use it yet, but it will be good to prop him up with for now.

And last but not least, is the teddy bear that I will give to my granddaughter for Christmas. I will also make a stuffed animal for my grandson, but I haven't decided on which one yet. I don't have any "boyish" fabric, unless you count all the SpongeBob fabric, but it wouldn't make a very good looking teddy bear or other stuffed animal! LOL
Unfortunately, I managed to put the head on slightly sideways, but it just looks like she is ready for a hug!

I am almost finished with a John Deere fleece jacket for my granddaughter, but I didn't have a zipper for it. I put buttons on it, but I will have to go buy some kind of elastic loop so she can button it. (Thank goodness I save small pieces of fleece to try things out on, because I found out that you can't sew button holes in fleece!)

I love all the wonderful blankets you're made for them! I'm sure they'll appreciate all the hard work!
They always need volunteers to make blankets. I'll bet you'd be a godsend to them!
I have heard of Project Linus, but have never looked them up. I will check into doing that.
Great blankets and a thoughtful way to help!
I was thinking about the gift you're planning to give your grandson, and thought that there may be a few innovative uses for that Sponge Bob fabric.
Could you cut out the figures on the fabric, make a mirror image of it, sew them together and stuff them with batting? They could be adorable as a set, perhaps in a mobile.
You could also mount the fabric on foam core, add layers of foam core, also attached to fabric showing the same scene, and do a 3-D effect with a few of the characters stuffed. That way he or his baby sitters can actually act out scenes, and he can have a self-contained storage area for his Sponge Bob toys.
Just a few thoughts. And of course there's always the Sponge Bob fort tent....
I so sew, but only simple things, maybe I should try that blanket thing. I managed to sew some great curtains for my apartment in Denmark, and the ones from my son's house I brought with me over here, because I love them so much. I sat there with a sewing manual, because I had to use some new stitches when making it some of it by hand.
I actually got an old Kenmore sewing machine from another freecycler, and now I just need to put it to good use.
Thank you for posting your article to !!!Today's Top Three Photos and Articles!!!@

waika's, I am getting ready to work on some quilts with the cotton batting in them. Actually, I have several projects picked out to work on. Some will be crib sized quilts, some will be table runners and placemats, and even one lap quilt. I can hardly wait to get started, but I have to get some room first! LOL
Great idea Michelle! Perfect.
In the meantime, I'm so glad to hear that the kids loved their blankets. Hooray!!!
Best wishes,
