Certification Exam 70-290 on Monday

Well, I've put in for my first certification exam on Monday, and I must admit I'm nervous. Why? Well, first of all, Microsoft Certifications are designed to be difficult. (Partially because they cost a whopping $125 to take... theoretically, the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation is picking up the tab for me, but still, ouch.) I know if I made a business out of selling my test to people, I'd have good reason to want to make sure they have to retake it unless they're really, really good.

So this weekend, I'm probably going to spend a lot of time studying, and studying, and studying - looking for various different ways to study the same thing, and trying to make very certain that I know my stuff. It's not particularly comforting to hear that most people fail their first certification exam.

Here's hoping things go well, and that I actually know what I need to know.

You'll do great. I've been to computer/IT school, though it's not my field anymore, but many people that we know have taken several of the MS Certification tests and passed the first time. The more you have - the better off you are. Good luck!

BTW I just passed a professional cert exam (not microsoft) this week. It took me 3 months of studying, but was well worth the effort.

According to David Blume, 25 acres will support a community of people who grow food properly and process grain into alcohol for fuel before feeding the left-over grain to animals. If the whole country turned into villages like this, we wouldn't need Microsoft. Supposedly, Intel has a $300 laptop now, to compete with MIT's $100 laptop, with simpler operating systems.

I hope you pass on the first pass, but even if you don't (worse-case-scenario), your Gather groupies still love you.

Good luck Austin, that's a powerful and helpful certification to hold. I've heard the same regarding their difficulty. I still have a huge book here for the A+ certification. It's amazing how much there is to know about computers (when a lot of it is rarely used these days for fixes).
