Excuse Me While I Vent

I intended to write two or three things today - one about patience and one or two from the list of articles I mentioned eariler in the week (probably the one about road rage and about my eyes for my growing list of fibro-related articles).  That was my plan.  But I did get sidetracked by some disability items.  That's okay.  Those other articles will get written.  I was smart enough to write a short prompt beside the titles I selected, so my fibro fog won't get in the way of remembering.

My vent has to do with...well, the same thing others have mentioned - THE CONTEST. 

In the midst of the disability writings and commenting about same, I received four emails.

One said, "Hey, I saw how busy you have been today.  Do you think you could take a break and read my second chapter?"

Uhhh.  Maybe not.

Another said, "Are you still online?  If so, please, please, please read my second chapter."

Probably not.

I will read and vote before the deadline.  But I'm considering making a list of those whose stories I won't read.

I gotta be honest if I read everyone's 2nd chapter it'd take over a day to do..and then there's a 3rd chapter, and a 4th :)

Exactly. I did read a bunch of first chapters. Some I liked and some I didn't. Just like any book I buy at the store, I might or might not continue after reading a first chapter that I didn't particularly like. :)
Same here! I had my own venting session about the excessive e-mails the other day. I don't mind them here & there, but multi-times per day every day is way too much!
Even being up all night, I haven't had the time or even been in the mood. Especially when they tell me that I'll "want to give them a 10"! What is up w/that?!

I received one of those emails last night. It was very polite, and I did read and comment on the chapter. But i really dislike reading long items on the computer.

I'm with you, about reading long things on the computer. I can read lots of short items, but really have trouble reading one long one. Just thinking about reading multiple 2nd chapters makes my eyes hurt.
Same here. The longest thing I've read on-line recently was a long article w/lot of details about Fibromyalgia, last night. I read it because I wanted to & because it was nice to see another person who really does know about it.

I just posted an article about this -- my 2nd one, actually. People have been bombarding me with these emails too, so I posted that 2nd warning and now I am blocking anyone who sends me bulk emails. It blocks them from my email but not from my connections list. I think it's so discourteous!

I admit that I don't read a lot of my email and I don't click too many links. It is simply too time consuming.

Yep - I just can't read ALL of them. I would have to quit my job and never do anything at home. I understand where they are coming from with the requests but it can get overwhelming!!!

Very true. I can't keep up either, and I don't want to. Did anyone else notice that many of the mass emails aren't even from our connections? Weird.

I agree with you. There just isn't time to read even all the ones we WANT to read, 2nd chapters and otherwise; let alone the ones that don't seem that initeresting or that have lots of typos that can try your patience. You're right when you said, "Tell me once that you want my help." Well said.
