I think that when they're older, sure, but when their enfants, or toddlers no, first there's the choking hazzard, then when they're in school in gym, the ripping out stage(I know many a people with ripped earlobes, and deformed , from getting earrings when they're young)
And nowadays, there is the boys wanting earrings, ...no wonder the world is going to pot.(I've seen little boys with earrings, no wonder they're sexually oriented confused!!)
My step-son wanted an earring when he was twelve--
I told him there is ony three reasons why he should get one:
#1. He's a girl
#2. He's either a pirate/He comes from a tribe, (and next he should get a bone in his nose)
#3 he's gay
Number 3 -To which he said "what's that?", I said-"You like boys"
"NOOOO WAYYY!!" her retorted
The end of this is, he never got an earring 'till he was 18
(his choice, still peer pressure)
So,..I think alot of it is just peer pressure, and hype
Kids don't need that junk, it's a distraction from their own inner and outer beauty

Loved the article!
While I agree with you about children and earrings, I do not agree with you about boys and earrings. That's like saying girls shouldn't get tattoos, or something. People should be able to choose what they want to do with their own bodies. Babies are too young to make that choice, so they should not have pierced ears.
I like wearing earrings and I like not wearing earrings. I will not allow my children to get their ears pierced until they are adults. By then, they will (hopefully) be old enough and responsible enough to make the decision on their own, without peer pressure.
