This is a walk I took yesterday along part of our trail. It now takes two hours for me to fully walk. It's a work in progress. We have other sections we've yet to complete. Sadly, it has been so dry that the water in the creeks is minimal.
I've walked probably a mile on the trail to come to this bridge, which we made cutting a cattle shute in half. We recycle. The wood was very hard to cut - seeming almost petrified. Here are more pictures of the same
bridge, show
ing the railroad ties we cut for steps on both sides due to
the steep terrain leading down to the creek crossing. This next picture is a little beyond this bridge.
This is Binka and Barney, our two labs.
Walking close to another mile we come to the
next bridge. We used a piece of metal for this bridge. These next pictures are actually part of a horse trail which we converted into a hiking trail. I skipped quite a bi
t, but these last few
pictures are the last leg of the almost 3 mile trail. Since the trail is a series of loops you can do shorter
distances. You will always come back to the same place, eventually. This was the first bridge my husband constructed out of logs and discarded lumber around the farm.
It's pretty sturdy, considering a tree fell on it during a heavy storm. That got turned into firewood.
