Car Update

I had previously mentioned that my car battery was dead, and we fried the cheap jumper cable. Luckily, the dealership said there was no other damage, and I was able to get my car back within a day and less than $200. I was quite pleasantly surprised.

I just can't believe both of our cars had to be repaired back to back. I am glad though they didn't die on the same day.

was the $200 just for the battery or did it need other repairs? That seems awfully expensive for just a car battery. Glad you were able to get it fixed, though.

You were on my mind all day. I kept wondering about the goo on the headlight. I thought it would have cost much more than what you stated. You sure were lucky. I am happy things turned out not so bad. Whew! You've had some day. Now sit back and relax. :)

Sometimes I do wonder that. There are times when I really can't remember how to get to a certain location, but I will mention to my passengers that the car will get us there. We do get there and I couldn't tell you how.

Glad the repairs were not too costly. I too am curious about the battery. Most installs of those are free. Was the rest of the money for a diagnostic test to find out what was wrong?

Jill - No it was just the battery. I know, they are expensive. The worst thing is that they are only available at the dealership. For my husband's Accord, I went to Costco and bought a battery and had my good-hearted neighbor help me install it. I can't remember exactly but the battery was definitely less than $100 (maybe $59 or something like that). But the Elantra battery is not sold any where else.... And free installation!? Not a chance at the dealership.

As for the headlight... I forgot to mention... The dealership said it was only cosmetic, so I didn't do anything with it. I haven't tried the WD40 someone suggested yet. It's not on the priority list of all the things I have to do....

I am glad that you have them both up and running. What kind of car do you have that you could only get the battery from the dealer??

I just asked DBF and he said that you should no longer offer to give other people a jump. It drains your battery and can fry the computer systems in your car. Just an FYI.
