I have been receiving daily emails reminding me that in order to be paid for note-taking in class (something I do every semester) I needed to go in and fill out the paperwork. I do not much care about the $ to be honest. They break the $100/course down and pay it in installments over the course of the semester - if it was $110 at once, it might register as something that matters, but in installments....
Anyway... my failure to care has been preventing the person whose job it is to do the administration around these things from being able to successfully complete her job task and finally I got round to going in there and filling in the damn form. Again.
Why do I have to tell them my name, address, DOB etc etc every single semester? It hasn't changed.
Not only that, but this semester, the pay has been reduced (it used to be $150/course) and yet they now figure I should fill out 3 forms, not just 1. Oh, and I should meet with the co-ordinator - just a half hour meeting to talk about note-taking.
Excuse me?
I said no to the half hour meeting- not happening. Fine, since I have done the note-taking gig before and there have been no problems, she waived that requirement... but the forms....
did I mention there are now 3 of them?
And each of the three starts with name, address, DOB, SIN, etc?
Then they differentiate - one asks what courses I am available to notetake for (and demands that I attach an official timetable - uh, no - if you want my timetable go print it off yourself; I didn't bring one, and don't care enough to.....) Ok, she waived that too.
The second asks for my payment information - wants a blank cheque, etc etc .
I write "on file". Not good enough. Wanna bet? I win - she waives that requirement as well - but I am not to blame her if I don't get my $33 on whatever the date of the first payment is. Since I won't notice, I am unlikely to, I tell her.
And then we get to the third form. This one I don't even bother with the name, address, etc etc info.
If I were to fill it in at all - which I will not - it would be a NONE OF YOUR ******* BUSINESS written in black marker across the whole damn thing.
I am not filling out a budget which gives details re: not only my own but also hubby's income and expenses so that I can be paid $110 for taking notes!
As ******* IF!
And now she wants to stand her ground.
Fine then.... don't pay me; I'll do it as a volunteer. Can't do that - then she'll have that $110 already alloted for that student floating around .... there are no forms for that.
She eventually decided to let it go - will let me know if she hears from 'them' re: the need for my financial info. Argh! Too many hoops. I have things to do that MATTER...flitting through other people's silly hoops is not something I have patience for these days! Or perhaps I am just a b*tch..... either way...
I hate hoops!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have so much hoop jumping to do re: applications to grad school and for scholarships and so on that my tolerance for hoop jumping for things that just don't matter to me is very very low right now I think
I am still shaking my head over the idea that them agreeing to pay me a small amount for taking notes for special needs students should mean that I have to provide them with a full accounting of my income and expenses
How many people just fill out the forms without questioning.
How are things going with all your applications?
only worrying about things with deadlines coming up right now Trish... one week's worth at a time or I get overwhelmed and can't do anything
no matter where you are anymore they seem to want more and more work for less and less rewards
it's amazing.... we're supposed to be an electronic world yet we still fill out 4,000 forms for ONE thing?
