Is it helpful to have a fellow writer write a letter of support to a publisher or agent?
Regarding the question about fellow writers writing letters to the publisher. I don't know about that. But I have been told that it is important to have published authors behind your book or to have an author quote ready to publicize the book. It's a good selling point for your book that you can include in your query letter.
This leads me to wonder what the conferences are all about. How do they work? LOL. Thanks for all of your imput. I truly appreciate all the feedback.
Good luck,
Good luck!
DO keep this in mind, if you use an agent, you pay that person a percentage of any be cost-effective. As with any business, some agents are very experienced and others are not. Do your research, know which books your agent has handled, check out the "thank yous" to agents in books you've read and liked and hope you get a similar agent, equally as skilled. Good luck!
Finally, you really need to know WHICH agent will like what you write, get behind you and go to bat for you. Some will simply take your money and not do much else. Others will do everything in their power to get you noticed and have good contacts in the industry. And,yes, conferences can be a good way to meet potential agents. Personally, I'd probably go straight to the agent and beg. But that is just me.

Keep in mind that you pay that person a percentage of any accepted offers and that may be cost-effective. Sorry about any confusion. Ignore the messed up sentence in my long response above.
Thank you for coming by and reading Fate and Destiny!
I've read some great advice on this page that I think will be very helpful. One thing that I'd like to add is this: If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is.
