I get them free from various freebie offers. or else I wait until the after christmas clearance sales when calendars go to 90% off.

All of mine are store bought. My aunt once made me a calendar, it was the best gift ever! She had June with a birthday cake at the top (my bday is June 30). And all the pictures had Mickey Mouse, which was just awesome!

kraftfoods.com sends me one every year. Also, many stores have them in effort to promote their own businesses.

I never thought of making one online or on the computer. I try not to spend too much.

I think the ones you can get made at like Staples make for a great gift for family..My brother and I did those for our parents several years, and it was a big hit! So homemade(which is still store bought) but uses your pics!

I love the handmade ones, even if they do come from Staples--my aunt and my mom have both gone that route, and I actually kept the calendars for those years. :)

It seems like not as many places give out calendars as used to. You used to get them from the bank, your insurance agent, your church, etc. I haven't seen many of those for a while!

If someone prints them out from a computer template they are not handmade. I thought you were talking about actually making them by hand, which would be very cool.

I usually buy them, but I may make one for next year (or maybe the year after lol) since I have my new camera to play with. I gotta wait for winter for winter pictures heh

Siouxie: I agree that using a template isn't entirely handmade, but it is a bit more personalized than a store-bought one. Personally, though, drawing straight lines is not one of my strong suits, and even with a ruler, I get some interesting lines... :)

LOL Funny you should have an article about this Dawn. Happen to have a seasonal job selling calendars in the Northgate Mall, so I end up getting them for Christmas gifts as well as myself and get to pick exactly what I want.

You should stop by and say "hi" one of these days!

I use to make each month on 12x12 cardstock and put it in a magnetic frame, I got from a scrapbook party - but I just couldn't keep up & would forget - cause I never made them in advance- I have no clue why not?? Lazy, busy, etc..... So now I have a store bought one on the fridge with a clip/magnet. But it fills up too quick -I need one with BIG squares to write everything into - like those huge desk top ones!! (hee-hee)

I do both. I have made some pocketbook calendars for Christmas gifts one year. They were really neat. I'll have to post that as we get closer to the holiday.

I have also made some with pictures of the family and got some that were already done and just added stickers for birthdays and other important days too. It's really cheap to buy them and they make great gifts.
