Myspace blocked my account for promoting Gather!

I thought I would let everyone know to not promote Gather on myspace.  I sent out invites to all the people on my friend list and I got a message saying my account has been blocked because I was sending out spam.  What makes me mad is that I was sending out the invites to people who normally read the print magazines I write for.  So, it wasn't like I was really spamming people.  That's ok.  I'm done with myspace and I will just put the invites in the print mags.

That is craziness. I don't do a lot with MySpace. I have people that I connect with only because that it the only place they use.

I've learned Myspace is becoming very restricted to use..it used to be fun but others have ruined it..i agree spam isn't when you send to people who want to read what you say..

Never like MySpace especially after all the problems they had with several known sexual predators on the site as well as not being very user friendly like Gather is. Of course, I knew one of the people who provided the technology as well as several of the features provided on the website and ended up selling his huge portion of the website (along with his partners) for a very large sum of money.

The mags I write for are Rhythm, Art, and Groove (published monthly out of Cambridge, OH) and the North Coast Voice (published bi-weekly in NE Ohio). I figured that since I had alot of readers on there I would invite them over to here. My guess is that they will try everything they can do to keep people from knowing about Gather. The way I look at it they will lose people left and right to Gather because lets face it....if people can get rewarded for something they already do, then why not switch over to Gather. Myspace generates alot of ad revenue for Fox. Once they start losing mass amounts of people to Gather, they will lose ad revenue. I have a very strong feeling that is what is behind them blocking my acount.

I get spam crude on them all of the time! and Gather isn't something that I would have considered spam!

How I promoted Gather on myspace was in my blog, and posting a bulletin. I didn't have any problems when I did it that way.

hmm...I haven't had that kind of problem with MySpace....it might have been someone else doing that to you. I've sent bulletins out about the FCR contest and haven't gotten tagged for spam...so....hmm.

LMAO .. umm thats crazy! I sent out invites on my myspace bulletins and even put it in my blog too... so far I have not been blocked or booted. Maybe someone thought you got hacked and turned you in.

If you sent out messages to people on MySpace then the people you sent them to marked them as spam. That's the only way MySpace does that = if the people you sent it to checks spam on the message....

Myspace doesn't like it when you post about sites that compete with them. You can do it by posting in your blog. If you put any link on myspace when people click the link, they will get a message telling them it is probably a site phishing for thier information.
