This is a short essay with spectacular photos of my husband's recent trip to Italy.
Alas, I did not go, but the photos are very enjoyable.
(I have been to Italy, near Turino, 10 years ago, when I had a business trip to Geneva and brought the family along for a quick, one-week stay in Geneva, Bern and Annecy, with a quick side trip to Mount Blanc and Monte Cervinia (the Italian side of Zermatt and the Matterhorn).)
Part 2 My Husband's Trip to Italy Part 2 - Venice and Riccione

One of the islands on the lagoon, heading toward Venezia - Venice.
My husband went to Italy a few weeks ago for a two-week international track & field competition. He sprints and does the long jump and triple jump.
The competition was in Riccioni, but he and his track mates took a one-day trip to Venice.

Nearly in Venice. The water is such a beautiful color.

The color of the water nicely complements the brightly colored houses.

This is a Gondola lagoon, where tourists can board Gondolas.

One of many small bridges along Venezia's miles of canals.

A restaurant along a canal.

The beauty one sees as the Gondola glides down the canals.

These photos are so restful to look at - the clarity of the water, the earthen tones of the houses, the bright colors of the passengers and the Gondolier.

A refreshing sip of mineral water as the Gondola passes under a bridge.

Some of the canals are very narrow, as you see here.

A broad canal. For some reason, this photo brings to mind a small fleet of very small pirate ships.

The Rialto bridge

More canals in Venezia. The water looks so inviting, doesn't it?

A close up.

Assicurazioni Generali.

Such beauty.

Passing through a narrow canal

And the day's journey to Venezia is nearly done.
The second part is Riccione and San Marino, to be posted soon.

Glenn, thanks for stopping by... It was so restful just trying to get these images up...took two days but it was worth it.
More in a couple of days, inland and mountains and castle.
Michelle, thanks for stopping by.
These pictures are beautiful & the clarity of them all is really great. Tell him he did a wonderful job~
Makes me wonder what will happen with global warming and rising sea levels. Will they be able to "build up"?

Trust Me-chapter 2
My husband first put one of these on the computer and I thought it was a sample image that came with the computer. !
That was The Gondola Lagoon. It was spread out over the entire large monitor...
I said, Oh people will just loooooooooooove these~
Yeppers.
Let's all organize a trip!
The food was fantastic and the people were very friendly... but, everything they have ever said about Italian Men has been true; they actually did come by and slap us on our fannies! Too funny.
Anyway, thanks for the tour. Am looking forward to more!
Thank you for your most informed and interesting tips about Venice...
I will definitely go sometime.
My hubby is going to Hawaii in December.
What do folks do when it rains, I wonder?????
elizabeth e............woowwwwwwwweeeeeeeeeee. yep.
magi, you will go.
Ron: You will go, too.
When I took the family to Italy, we drove up near Turino. Everywhere I looked, there were castle ruins. I kept saying; Look at the castle. Look at the castle. No response. Willya look at the darn castle?
Truly a wonder of the world.
Kathryn, you and hubby should rent the DVD "Summertime" starring an aging Katherine Hepburn and Rossano Brazzi. It's a love story set in Venice and the photography is spectacular (how could it be otherwise in a place like that?)
In the movie Hepburn falls into the Canal -- and she actually did it. She was terribly ill as a result and claimed for the rest of her life that she never completely recovered.
what a wonderful place to be able to go & visit, thanks for allowing me to feel like I was there.
Blessing always
10*
*i have new content, too, should you have a chance to visit...thx for the mailing about this article
I can imagine how bacteria laden the water is...

I can't wait for part 2. God bless, rpw
(I am joking)
Great photos, auguri!! For those who asked about the water, it sometimes smells bad, especially in the summer. Usually though, its fine, and the atmosphere, the colors, the sounds and views are even more spectacular than you can imagine. To those who have not been to Venice -- please try real hard to go. (Now is the ideal time).
Ok, I am ready to go on a vacation, far away now.
Thanks,
marty
