I use Picasa too for certain things, then switch over to Paint Shop Pro. But that isn't FREE.

I had just been using the kodak software that came with my camera, but yesterday I got Citra FX free from Giveaway of the day. I haven't tried it yet.

I use Photoshop, best one around, but not cheap at all..as for free I have Paint, but that doesn't offer you much features..

I havent tried Picasa, but sounds like it might be worth a try, most of Googles items are good.

type in "Art/photo programs" for your search, it will tell you any free/shareware programs available for download. (its a legitimate site, not one of those illegal download things)

I use paint shop photo album 5(came with my computer and I refuse to upgrade to 6 because it isn't as user friendly) and corel paint shop pro photo XI together. The features used in conjuntion with each other give me my desired effect. Of course, I sitll don't understand 2/3 of photo XI. Oh, I also use snapfire sometimes which is a "relatively" inexpensive" program designed to run with phot XI, which, of course, is not inexpensive.

I have Picasa, but I haven't tried it yet. I am going to download a trial of Photoshop to see what all the hype is about. lol

Now that you mention it Matt, cnet is usually pretty good about free and shareware programs of all sorts. I have dozens of programs that I have found there that I swear by.

Thank you everyone for your comments. I see that a lot of you use picasa, which I also love, I just wish I could make frames/borders with it.

Tracey I went to download a version of photoshop, and it seems to be working ok, it is more difficult to navigate than the corel programs though, and I have not found many frames, but maybe that is just me.

I did use photoshop at work many years ago, and I see that it has not changed much.

For simple quick edits, I love Irfanview. I have programs I paid for such as Photoshop, Illustrator, etc., but I also have Picasa. I don't use it often.

This is great! I was just wondering about this - since I lost most everything when my computer got wiped - and my son has all the install discs. Will he ever remember to bring them when he visits? Highly doubtful. Thanks!

I use different ones. Picasa for quick fixs. Irfanview for most things. Irfanview also works with some photoshop plugins :) . Paint.Net for text adding. The others are a bit limited for that.

I have found photoshop too hard to use. (just not user friendly)
Picasa is great and free. And, its my favorite overall.
