"Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it.
Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it."
Goethe
Today at the Norman Bird Sanctuary Papa, Roy Hilbinger and I along with many other people celebrated the Fall Festival. We had a most glorious time sampling the food, listening to the music, browsing the stalls of handmade pottery and jewelry, and watching the children's game. Many things went through my mind as I watched the mud wrestlers. It appears that until one is committed there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness.

Concerning all acts of iniatiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then all sorts of unexpected things can occur.

Then we wandered over to watch greasin' the pole and once again I saw someone pushing themselves to their limits. Though it involved risk, a small girl deliberately tried to climb the greased pole....something she was not sure she could do...but with tenacity I have not seen before, she struggled on.

So as you see, regardless of where you are, even at a Fall Festival, one can observe certain truths in life.

Lisa...I think these kids had the time of their lives! But you know something...I did envy the mud wrestles...I would have loved to do that if I was young. I am afraid that a 61 year older would look pretty foolish wrestling in the mud!
