Some positive changes with the new update....I guess...
but sure do wish they'd do something about the whole flagging thing.... seems a shame that the current state of affairs re: flagging gives the flaggits so much power ....way too much power if you ask me.
Gather has already said clearly that they do not consider GEG chat threads to be spam. They consistantly remove the flags when they get to them.... so why should the flaggits be able to block them from view?
Sure hope whoever is entertaining themselves by flagging us is NOT someone that also supports free speech and satire - that would be the height of hypocrisy.

I love love love the whining about free speech that I've seen, yet the complainers have no problem removing comments (as one of my comments was deleted.)
oh the whole, I think most of the changes have been positive... but there are still a bunch that I would like to see
and I do NOT like the new groups selector control
For example.. I wrote an article about bowling. I said for me it was good, fun exercise. Well some young, fit guy (under 20 years old) left a comment that I found a little frustrating.. But I'm not going to remove it. I'll leave it for other people to shake their heads and laugh at lol.
I'm laughing myself silly tonight though..... someone that professes to be a big supporter of free speech is the only one who has removed my comments LOL

Simply changing this little thing would discourage a lot of the malicious flagging.
Ya, the flagging thing happens everywhere, even on craigslist. It was disheartening at first, then I realized people are nasty sometimes!

Have tons of connections with little icons as "faces" just isn't the same as actually feeling some kind of connection to these people. Getting to know my connections helps me to truly feel connected to them.
My point was, even though I rarely involve myself in "games", I don't go running around ranting and raving... Most of my articles are a little more "wordy" than the "games", but I don't go knocking the "Games" thinking I'm bigger and better...
Ok... getting off my rant station now. Sorry... tired LOL
anyway....I am dealing with bronchitis and asthma and an annoying tendency to faint when I cough ....and I have medicated myself to almost comatose...need to go to bed or risk spending the night on the floor beside my desk :(

There is no reason why articles can't stay visible until reviewed. Unless the Gather Gods want to have someone manning the flagging desk 24/7 to release the flags. It seems that anything that makes sense is beyon\d their comprehension.

Flit, I'm sorry you feel that way about people who support free speech and satire - I thought at least one of the supporters was your friend! At least, that's where I heard you spoken highly of...

Given that the only comments of mine that have been deleted to date have been deleted by one of those very people - and yes, I get that she was doing so to make a point about the ridiculousness of the new and not improved system - who is one of the strongest voices re: censorship and allowing satire and so on - I do not think that it is unreasonable to at least entertain the possibility that it could well be one of those who on one hand claim to support free speech and satire who is doing the flagging..... although honestly, I would not think that it would be that particular person.... I can't see her stooping to that level, actually.
I have no way of knowing who is doing the flagging ..... and wouldn't even hazard a guess.
Hope Gather will eventually get its **** together.

I am one of those people that welcomes honest critique of my writing. If you can be honest and not a jerk about it, please go through my articles with a fine tooth comb. Find my errors and point them out. Make suggestions on how I can improve. I am the first to admit that my education growing up was horrible. Since I didn't get the education growing up, how am I suppose to learn as an adult unless people are willing to honestly help me.
This particular person is someone that I really do wish I could become connected with as I feel she could offer me a lot! But.. sadly... I don't think I could handle the nasty attitude ... maybe she has a good reason for it, but eh.. I won't ever find out now will I?
Either that, or an old crib mattress (if you've got any around lol) under the head of your mattress... a little better than the TV pillow if you can do it.
