Fall Asters

On my weekly walk through Ballard Park and around Gooseneck Cove today I noticed that the fall Asters are out in force, so I thought I'd share them with you.

First we have some Swamp Asters, also known as Purple-Stemmed Asters:

Next, Tall Sunflowers:

From large blooms to tiny, we come to Calico Aster:

And last but not least, White Wood Asters:

And there you have it, a small sample of the fall-blooming Asters I saw all along my walk today. Enjoy!

Beautiful pictures Roy.
I used to have purple asters.
One year spring returned and they didn't.
I should plant some more.

Very beautiful photo Roy. I'm glad you finally got to post! I have many kinds of asters in my yard for fall color - wild and hybrids. I think they are very over looked by most people as fall color in the garden.

Asters are the prettiest harbingers of fall, They hold on to spring-like color till the last minute.

those are really pretty i have a bunch in our back yard i stoped cutting grass when i noticed them coming up i think they are pretty. have a bunch of the sunflower/sunchokes comming up too I think those are my favorite
