Post Upgrade:
Problems With
Image Uploading
In Article Publishing
Â
Earlier today I was able to upload images into an article, but this afternoon the GatherGlitchGremlins® are back to play.
 I have been trying to ignore the constant system disconnections and just log back in, along with the really slow performance that is a regular symptom of the post-upgrade syndrome. I have closed and relaunched the browser and even rebooted trying to get past this image uploading glitch. To get the extra images into this article I have resorted to having to upload them first to Photobucket then link to them.
Â
¿¿¿ How are you doing after this upgrade ???

:-(
I seriously doubt your images will ever finish the image processing, I have images and videos in my archive that still say that from the upgrade a month ago!
I would suggest you send the Chamber a note explaining the situation and tell you will let them know when you get the complete article and images published. Then you will have to start over with the image uploading, or do as I did for this article and upload the images that aren't displaying to somewhere like Photobucket and link in the images to the article.
more often ... and where the heck have you been lately???
P.S. Thank you for the offer ... but please give that
thing to GW or SallyAnn's with my regards! (-;
Firefox can't even find gather part of the time!
I hate glitches.
Isn't there a way for programmers to fix this kind of stuff before they launch the upgrades?
I just got a a whole slate of 404's!!!
oy veh!
always slow, and worse yet after an upgrade.

Faith Eyes, to make it worse support and some guides are known to urge people to switch to Firefox. However, if one has problems with that browser they'll tell you to use Explorer. Not that it really makes much difference since the issues are independent of Firefox or Explorer and the browser switching is just a red herring to distract you.
There seems to be some lack of testing and validation before launch. I get the impression that testing is done only in a closed environment using a LAN connection. I wonder if they test through an outside cable/dsl connection and it definitely does not appear to ever be performed with a dialup connection.
I haven't been logged off yet, but I'm sure that will happen soon enough.
Gather gremlins are running amok!
Keep trying.
Now the login issue is usually more of a slow speed connection issue. That you broadbanders are also getting bumped off is disconcerting ... but glad to know the fun and games are being shared with everyone! (-;
Other than learning this before attempting to upload the photos, Gather has been running fine for me.
I would like to address your statement above:
"Faith Eyes, to make it worse support and some guides are known to urge people to switch to Firefox. However, if one has problems with that browser they'll tell you to use Explorer. Switching browsers is certainly not a red herring, and has allowed the guides and I to isolate problems that members are having with either their browsers, or their anti-virus or firewall settings. Not every problem a member encounters is caused by Gather (directly), and often determining a causal factor is a process of elimination. Switching browsers is just one of several steps that has been proven effective many times.
The guides genuinely attempt to assist members, to the greatest degree that we can, and to work with them to resolve their problems. Therefore, red herrings are not on our menu! ;-)
