It is distressing to see good articles, charming stories or anecdotes told in a well-crafted manner using superior language skills, receiving a handful of comments.
I am determined to do something about it.
This is not a a "top ten" list, not a contest, not a prize.
(I appreciated very much the work that Travis performed in this regard.)
It is a way for me to employ my finely-honed attention-getting skills on behalf of quality work.
I mean no disrespect to accomplished writers who are finding an audience; my selection involves work that has been largely overlooked.
There are many days I cannot do this, so I am not creating a regular feature.
Here are two stories and two articles that I think other readers will enjoy:
Graduating From Childhood by Elizabeth Madrigal
Hare-Brained Schemes by Elizabeth Madrigal
Republican River Flood of 1935 by Kate C.

I discovered her articles very recently.
You are one of the readers I had in mind!
Most of this weekend's reading will be texts on Latin America. Along with a wealth of history, I am getting some long-overdue geography lessons.
I think it is cool that you're in school and still doing your music.
I have burned out of "cute" stuff for a few days, and want to share some things I like.
Dannielle, that's because we're still (clap clap clap clap)deep in the heart of Chaos.
The greed of the conquistadors is one of the blackest spots in cultural clashes.
Thanks for coming to look, Wilma and Mary and Angela.
You're wlcome, Kate.
There were a few particular readers I had in mind when I promoted these articles.
You are one of them!
You're welcome, Joanne.
Kate does historical photoessays that I thought you might enjoy.
Hey Varmint.
You realize, of course, that every political comment I make will now be deleted.
No more Bush-bashing fun.
John, my response to your very first comment was pushed "downward" by the second comment posted as I was writing. Thanks for checking out the articles.
Kate and Elizabeth publish good stuff.
I recognize that you might be busy with your "fan club" for the next few days. The article on women was a babe magnet! :-)
Note to all readers:
No one is obligated to look, see, do, approve, like, anything. Very often, when I am reading something that I like,, I am reminded of others that may like it, too.
Thanks for checking these out, Ivy and Kris.
I did not know if you had seen these "overlooked" articles.
I grew bored with cute and precious articles full of ironic reflections (my specialty).
I like what you and Kate are writing.
I have long been an admirer of Kate, but have just been introduced to Elizabeth.
What I do not like these days is "fabulous" in it's antique meaning - pertaining to fables, or fantasy, or imaginary.
There is a surfeit of fabulous writing occurring on Gather.
Glad you enjoyed the articles, Mary.
I thought both articles could be developed as great short stories.
There are some good things here.
