Congress has spent countless hours talking about useless measures and ammendments on the War that dont accomplish their goal of getting out. They have spent even more hours investigating the Bush administration. The remainder of the time has been spent grandstanding on the previous two issues and a myriad of other items. Lost in the shuffle they forgot to do their job. Congress appropriates the money the nation spends. Yet Congress seems to not have found to do their prinicpal job. I for one am outraged they have yet to pass final versions of even one appropration bill and wonder why this outrage is not getting more attention.

And Bush says things are doing so well.
Heck, just the other day, they passed a 422 page "FDA Amendments Act", 20 minutes after the final draft of the bill was introduced on the floor!! The bill was even passed on a "suspend the rules and pass" motion, which means they didn't even think it necessary to spend one solitary second debating something they were getting ready to vote into law. Now thats what I call efficiency!
Give them some credit, man; they were even able to pass a bill that gave the Executive branch more power and less accountability when it comes to violating our Fourth Amendment rights, without having a real debate about that one either! They even got it done in time for their August recess!
And just today, the Senate passed a Defense Authorization bill, with a "Lieberman-Kyl amendment," that basically says Bush and Cheney should go ahead and start a war with Iran!
See, Congress is getting things done!
They're so focused on being smooth and efficient, that they even decided to skip the whole "swearing in on the Bible" thingy when General Petraeus testified a couple weeks ago. I mean, why bother wasting time with that "the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help you God" stuff when someone who is so clearly a saint (politicians and media pundits say so, so it must be true) stands before Congress. Of course, Arlen Specter declined to swear in Alberto Gonzales this summer, too, even after it was mentioned by Pat Leahy. This time, former CIA analyst had the presence about him to say out loud "Swear him in" when technicians were fiddling with Gen. Petraeus's microphone, and was promptly removed from the hearing for his troubles.
Can't have any of the serfs hassling our Supreme Masters of the State, especially with such petty things as following the Constitution.
