Here is a rather long list of competitions and exhibits which I excerpted from my email this morning pertaining primarily to photographers (for our purposes). However, there are also a few that invite Creative Writers. I have tried to go through and highlight these, but I may have missed a few and I know there I are many I did not look up for additional info. FOR ENTRIES LICC invites passionate artists to submit their innovative

October 5, 2007 CALL FOR ART The 46th Founders Juried Awards

Exhibition is open to original artwork created after January 1, 2005

in ten categories , Mixed Media, Painting, Pastel, Photography,

October 9, 2007 INTERNATIONAL ART CONTESTBourg Les Valence, France -

2D, 3D - All Mediums, to celebrate its 25th anniversary and show its

commitment to nurturing young talent, Imaje, a French-based

international company located in France, organizes a free entry art

contest. The contest is open to both professional and non-professional

artists as well as art students 18 and older from around the world

with an art degree or with a strong artistic interest and

background. Entrants may submit as many works as they like but will

have to fill out a separate application form for every art piece. The

October 15, 2007 Earth Matters: International Art Exhibit 2007 This

juried art competition is part of International Week and is open to

all artists working in any 2D medium regarding the interpretation of

"Earth Matters" (encompassing everything from environmental changes to

global economics, politics, health, and other issues relating to the

global environment). The entry fee is $25. Accepted works will be

exhibited at the University Gallery on campus. Three works will be

awarded for excellence: The Distinguished Jury Award, The OIP Choice

Award, and The Viewers' Choice Award. Awarded works will become part

of The University of Texas-Pan American's Permanent Collection. All

October 31, 2007 "Internal Illumination" This juried exhibition is

open to all two- and three-dimensional artwork that incorporates

components of internal illumination, either by electrical or chemical

means. Lighting in the display areas will be minimized to allow an

accentuation of the glowing characteristics of the work. No work that

involves fire or uncontained chemicals, however, can be accepted for

this exhibition. Exhibition dates are December 21, 2007-February 1,

2008. Awards One artist Going Solo exhibition or $1,000 - Four Artists

selected for Group 4 exhibition A maximum of three entries per artist

interdisciplinary visual arts program. Facilities include fully
