A few months back I purchased some finger paints for my daughter.
They of course were non-toxic, and washable! I'm def. not crazy!! I wasn't about to get anything that wasn't both of those things...
So of course Madeline LOVED it!!
She had sooo much fun, and made such a mess, but nothing a bath couldn't fix! LOL We got some good paintings to give to family too! Altho I have found it hard to part with any of her masterpieces!!
It probably would have been smarter for me to take her outdoors to do this, but I just laid an old sheet, that I didn't mind if it got ruined, out in my living room, we have tile floors so I didn't have carpet to worry about getting paint all over...
I gave her several of my plain white 12x12 scrapbook papers and started pouring a bit out onto the papers for her and showing it to her.
It didn't take long and she was having FUN playing in the gooey wet mess, and had created several masterpieces!!
I am thinking that when I get these photos developed I might even use the actual pages she painted in my scrapbook and put the photos and some journaling on top of them.
Altho I don't know that I would want to cover anything up....
We have done finger painting on two occasions now, and I havn't done it again for awhile so I am thinking that I might have to get the paints out and try it again!
But now that she is walking all over and moving faster I think I am def going to have to do it outside, so that I don't have paint on my walls too!
But if you are looking for a fun way to keep your kids busy, this is great!! And the paints were maybe $7, so not real expensive, for bottles of paint, and a little paint goes a long way!!
Here are a few photos of our finger painting fun!

and our finished masterpieces!
I think I have a future Picasso on my hands ;)

Thanks for stopping by and reading my article and looking at my photos!

One thing we did when the other kids were little was let them finger paint using things like colored pudding- then, if they ate it, it wasn't bad.
Mikal~ I think it really does make a difference what kind of things you do with your children when they are younger.
The food coloring in the bathtub is a good idea!!
Altho now I think they make stuff like bath crayons...
Heather ~ The pudding is a good idea!! But then you can't really save their artwork..
That is why I bought non toxic paints, because a little taste wouldn't hurt, and after a taste she didn't have much interest in trying to eat it, she was just having fun smearing it all over the place!
The other day, my son had to paint at school, and for some reason he refused to do his painting until I got there. When I came to pick it up he had no problems doing it. I don't know if it was because he saw the other kids get paint everywhere or if it was because he didn't understand what he had to do. Anyway, I told him we could get the stains off, and when I got home I showed him how I spray the stains....hopefully he will paint with the other kids next time.
J~ that is too bad your son wouldn't paint at school... I bet he would have had lots of fun!
I am wondering how our next paint session will go with my daughter since she runs all over, altho she can get out of our tub, so that wouldn't work for us either, lol.
Altho it would keep the mess contained!
THat would be a great and cheap Christmas gift for the Grandparents too!
Sarah~ LOL about selling them on ebay!
Some things that people buy as art these days aren't far off from my Madeline's paintings tho, maybe I could make a ton selling them! ;)

Looks like she had a lot of fun.
I appreciate it!
Either that or do it out in the yard! And def put them in cloths you don't mind getting ruined!
ALtho I am pretty sure all the paint washed out of the sheet when I washed it I wouldn't want to take any chances...
Bon
Bonnie ~ I def don't take a moment for granted!! I wouldn't trade a moment with my daughter for anything in the world......
