My dear friends, particularly Kevin that declares it up front, here is something for all of us that you might want to know and might want to be there!
In Venice/Italy, on the 29th and 30th of October 2007, free entrance in palazzo Cini, to the 'Convegno Internationale, Forme e coreenti dell'esdoterismo occidentale'
You can register and ask for a brochure etc in:
and look for the programm etc in Fondazione Cini (premises: ex benedictine monastery with Palladio church, Isola di St Giorgio Maggiore, Venice) in:
www.cini.it, events etc
Among the speakers are personalities such as Moshe Idel and Jocelyn Godwyn. I also attracted my attention the article of Kocku von Stuckrad: Wisdom beyound Demonstration: Experiential Knowledge from late Antiquity to the 13th Cntury in Interreligious perspective'
Under this title I imagine in the first place the various dances from the ancients that were experiencing the rhythm of the celestial sphaeres to the mystic dances of medieval monks and nuns. We shall see!
My partner and I already booked our travel to Venice for these days. We shall have also a bit of time to revisit some of our old favourite bits of this wonderland.
Any way I shall give afterwards the higlights.
It is the first international congress of this kind and it is marvelous that it takes place in Venice; they are made for each other!

I envy you going there. I intend to be there sometime during my upcoming visit to my sons ,both of them, in Germany. Not really sure of when we will be in Venezia though. Maybe we will bump into each other. I am not sure of where Palazzo Cini is located. I just located it with your Cini site :::
Un palazzo cinquecentesco, a metà strada tra l'Accademia e la Fondazione Guggenheim, era la residenza (assieme all'adiacente palazzo Loredan con prospetto laterale sul Canal Grande) del conte Vittorio Cini. Egli lasciò, alla sua morte (1977), importanti collezioni d'arte.
I know exactly wherit is. Very close to one of my favorite restaurants "LOCANDA MONTIN". I make it a point to eat there every trip to Venezia.
Have a great trip.

I wish that I could be there to participate in this event but unfortunately this year I won't be going anywhere further than Salt Lake, Beaver Creek, and Mexico City. So, maybe next year??
Thanks for the heads up and please take lots of pictures!! ;)
Esther, I wish your wishes come true!
PJ, Thank you for the information added here. I forgot to say that the palazzo is on the Island of St Giorgio Maggiore.
I want to see the exhibitions running in the palazzo at the time, mostly the collections of the count. When I read about the first european painter woman, i though She would get a bit of money from the count now and then to get her colours and her canvases or to organise and exhibition and she would give in exange this and that drawing or watercolour. Just like me, I thought, with my partner.
Yes, who knows? we might bamp to each other.
I have been in Venice in the middle of the winter, even for Christmas and a couple iof times around the 15th of August. but never in the Autumn or in Spring. but I think, Autumn will have such a mystic and inspiring atmesphere ...
We have few weeks to recover and yes, we shall attend every one of the talks and we hope that all the announced people will be there. Afterwards I certainly let you know what you expect!
I am self reading the book 'the shining ones' and my paintigs are invested with espteric references, at least the latest collage style compositions. They are not hard symbols and they do not try to translate myths and rituals but they are fertilised by a certain essence. I think to complete three pictures for each season, in physical and metaphorical sense. Where, for example Summer is also heaven ... the seventh heavens perhaps ... My future Venetian impressions, will give material for the season of winter and the initiatic death ... beofre the spring ... resurection!
I already favour the dutch speaker and Godwin, but I am open to all the others and lets see where we shall be drawn by all of them!
I wish I could make it to this stellar event but I've already had my weeklong trip to Italia this year, to Firenze and Bologna instead!
Enjoy your Venetian artistic odysssey.
The last time I was in the Piazza del Duomo in Florence I had tears in my eyes - more than that I started crying for few seconds.
Thank you for your wishes to our travel to Venice. Particularly welcomed three days before we fly there and as I feel a bit ill at the moment. I am sure that your wishes will accelerate my healing.
Best time for you too in the between and I will report in my return (I pray that I arrive there and that I return here healthy and safe!)
