Xbox 360 - help!

I am wondering how to get the IP addresses to match for the router and the Xbox. It was knocked off line. And yes, I know computers but this goes beyond my knowledge base. It is easier just to set something up than to fix it after it is set up!

Anyone who has one of these and can share their thoughts it would be most appreciated.

What have you done with it? How do you keep little hands from changing settings? What works??

I should know this. everything we have is set up with static IPs now. and somehow this saves a lot of trouble with the router. But my brain is off duty right now.

Can you believe I've NEVER played a video game in my life? My kids say I've deliberately kept myself in the dark ages. They might have a point! No help here. Sorry!

I'm done with this. Couldn't figure it out!! EEK! I only know the computer part of it and that was working fine, so...
