Isn't it great the internet has enables us to start a business right now? All you need is some time, a computer and an internet connection. If you're reading this article, you have all it requires to start a business online.
But does that mean you should dive right into it like nine out of ten people did? How many people actually succeed doing this online?
You see, the problem with online business is that it is a business pursued by non-business people. They have absolutely no business education. No business background. They don't even have any business exposure. The fact that people are busy generating traffic instead of focusing on conversion is a glaring evidence.
How successful your business is, is a reflection of how much you grow. As YOU grow, your business grows. You can ask anyone who's successful in business, online and off, and they'll tell you the same thing. If you are a business veteran, you'll look back to your early days and realize how foolish you were. People do not realize personal development is a very important integrative component of a business.
The popularity of affiliate programs and get-rich-quick courses clearly shows people are just not ready doing business online. They are plain lazy.
Why is affiliate programs so popular? The promise of short cut to wealth. You don't need to create a product, no customer service, manage refunds, etc.
In my opinion, affiliate programs should only be pursued by people who have established themselves as an expert in their field, simply because affiliate commissions are NOT the way to online success. Ask anyone successful online and they'll tell you commissions are something extra. Their main aim is to build credibility and trust and as your reputation grows, your welath follow.
If you are planning on starting a business, understand that ALL business ventures are hard work. An easy approach is easily duplicable, and if it does work, it will not last long.

However-there is still that elusive diamond in the rough that succeeds.
An example of it in flux would be Amazon in 2000 and the bombadeering of the Homegrocer.com in Bellevue, WA.
Even the best business plans and MBA grads are wary after 2000 and the dotcom crash f starting an online business. However-it is the best marketing tool in the international economy.
Lousy sites get lousy business.
Having an honest to gosh business takes work and there is a big learning curve. I make money online, but would never call it a business. I did have my own business for a while and closed it when I moved. It was a lot harder than I expected and I still had to do things that I didn't enjoy with past jobs, like marketing. I hate marketing!
Some of these business I look at want you to invest a lot of money. I think they prey on the people that don't have it by promising a lot of income.
I have considered an on line business but I always feel like I just don't know enough about it to pursue it.
Thanks,
So far, we've only had a couple of sales, but are getting lots of traffic. So it sounds like we need to work more on the conversion side. My background is marketing, not sales, so conversion is definitely the hard part for me.
We bought into an established business (yes, it's an MLM, no boo-ing please) and are bound and determined to use our web and marketing skills to make it work online and NOT have to have our friends over for stupid parties. And if we CAN make it work, then I think we can get lots of people to join us ... we'll help them for sure.
