I've been trying to lose the last pounds of the weight I gained while I was pregnant, and I'm trying to change our eating habits for the future to ensure we stay healthy.
I read labels on EVERYTHING. I do NOT buy things with High Fructose Corn Syrup, Partially Hydrogenated Oils, Hydrogenated Oils, Trans Fat, or Artificial Sweeteners (i.e. Splenda, Sweet & Low, etc). I try to buy as many organic foods and fresh fruits and veggies as our budget will allow. We drink Fat Free Milk and Fat Free Organic Soy Milk. We use Smart Balance spread instead of butter or margarine. We use whole wheat pasta, brown rice, and LOTS of fruits and veggies.
We still have areas we need to work on, though. For instance, we are trying to limit our portion sizes and eat less red meat. When we do eat chicken, it's boneless skinless chicken breasts (so at least that's good).
My son doesn't eat fast food at all, and neither do we. Once we watched that movie "Super Size Me," we were done. (Although, we do splurge every once in a while for an IN & Out Hamburger).
So, how healthy is your diet? Are you trying to eat healthy? Are you a healthy eating champ? Are you a Fast Food Junkie?

I am a middle of the road eater...I believe that depriving yourself of anything will lead to overindulgence in the future.
Tony Robbins says that you should not mix foods. For instance, don't eat meat AND pasta in one sitting. And he says you should always eat fruit on an empty stomach - that way the sugars get burned rather than absorbed.

Other than eliminating wheat there are only a few other changes, no avocado, no soda, no alcohol except for red wine (can't abide completely by that one; I want a cocktail sometimes, but we mostly drink red wine). It sounds crazy, but I have to say, when we focus on fish and rice and vegetables; we both either lose weight or maintain our weight, even if we have a couple of drinks and desert (flourless chocolate cake). And, we generally feel better, healthier when we stay away from wheat.
Apparently this doesn't work for all blood types. I can't remember the name of the book, but if you Google "blood type diet", I'm sure that you'll come across it.
We usually use big plates so you put enough food to fill your plate! It really works I use the kids' plates sometimes!
Good luck losing a few more pounds!
Those are BIG changes I have made with my family in the last few years.
Adding more fresh fruits & veggies is another biggie.
I give myself sweets "breaks" also. My sweet tooth can be a hard one to fight.
It is easier to cut off High Fructose Corn Syrup treats and go ahead and let myself have the sugar substitutes though.
Funny thing...for the past 10 years or so I've always registered between 205 to 208 lbs. No fluctuation...it's mostly 206 lbs. That's my fighting weight so I'm fine. The nurse thinks I have some trick...I don't.
