Nick woke up today with his back hurting quite a bit, so after some motrin and a shower, he opted to stay home from work today. He's salary, so it doesn't hurt our income, and he had plenty of PTO time to do it.
What this meant for me, though, is him turning off the alarm for me, and getting the kids all on their respective buses before I woke up. Well, all minus Gilly who gets on at noon. From there, we opted to splurge just a tiny bit. While Nick was putting Gilly on the bus, I drove over to my older daughter's school to drop off a house key, then back to pick Nick up, and we were off to the movies.
Nick took Chris to see Transformers on the 4th of July in the morning, while I took the girls to see Ratatouie (sp?), and since then, he's been raving about the movie and wanting to see it again. On Friday, I was looking at the theater's schedule for the Dove Family Film Festival (they show 1 kid movie per week, always an old release that's either just out on video or close to for free to kids 12 & under, and over 12 is just $2.50), and noticed the local Imax had Transformers showing this week.
Of course, being where we are, we have no baby sitting options, and at $12 per person, we certainly were not about to take the kids to the theater for it. The theater we usually go to is a cheap theater- brand new movies when they come out, $3 per person, adult's $6 after 6pm. So, if we go THERE for an afternoon movie, it's only $15. I'd much rather take the entire family to that theater than the imax one.
Anyway, with Nick having been home today, I checked the times and realized that if we were to get a key to Raegan, we could put Gilly on the bus at noon, get to the theater by the 12:30 show time, which got out at 3:00, and be back home before 3:30 at the latest, with the younger kids getting home at 4:00.
My reasoning was sound, and it did work out rather well. The movie was better than I expected. I think Shia LaBeouf was great in his roll. He brought a lot of humor into it, and is showing he'll be a great actor. I've watched him since he was on Even Stevens on the Disney channel, and was always amused by him.
After dropping Nick off to grab the kids off the bus while I ran to the bank, and then over to the grocery store to grab some small things to make wet burrito's tonight for dinner.
So, how was your day?
