This whole situation is sickening...Why do people state the color of one's skin. I look at it this way.... 6 people almost killed one person.. They need to be prosecuted and punished for their crime.. that is it...no more no less.

I agree with you. It shouldn't matter what race they are. I really don't think the prosecutor saw their race.

Well, there was an incident in the town where a white boy pulled a gun on some of the black kids. The black kids took the gun away from him and took off running. The white guy didn't get charged with anything, but the blacks were charged with theft. at least that's what I read. Of course the only ones who know what's really happening in that town are the people who live there.

There's been a lot of racial tension in that town for a long time. I think the white kids who put the nooses in the tree should have been expelled from school and not just suspended for three days.

However, three months went by from the noose incident and the stomping of the white boy. Six on one. I hope they're really proud about that. I do think they should face charges for what they did.

I didn't hear about the first incident, but it really isn't the same. No one was sent to the hospital. I saw the boy on the news in a hospital bed. If they had actually used the gun that would have been different.

If they are going to prosecute the black students, then they should be equally just and charge the white students who instigated this situation with their hate crimes. Justice under the law should be equal. After all, the statue of Justice sitting in front of the Supreme Court is wearing a blindfold over her eyes.

The big deal???

"On Nov. 30, somebody burned down Jena High. Whites thought blacks were responsible, blacks thought the opposite.

The next night, 16-year-old Robert Bailey and a few black friends tried to enter a party attended mostly by whites. When Bailey got inside, he was attacked and beaten. The next day, tensions escalated at a local convenience store. Bailey exchanged words with a white student who had been at the party. The white boy ran back to his truck and pulled out a pistol grip shotgun. Bailey ran after him and wrestled him for the gun.

After some scuffling, Bailey and his friends took the gun away and brought it home. Bailey was eventually charged with theft of a firearm, second-degree robbery and disturbing the peace. The white student who pulled the weapon was not charged at all.

The following Monday, Dec.4, a white student named Justin Barker was loudly bragging to friends in the school hallway that Robert Bailey had been whipped by a white man on Friday night. When Barker walked into the courtyard, he was attacked by a group of black students. The first punch knocked Barker out and he was kicked several times in the head. But the injuries turned out to be superficial. Barker was examined by doctors and released; he went out to a social function later that evening.

Six black students were arrested and charged with aggravated assault. But District Attorney Reed Walters increased the charges to attempted second-degree murder."

I had read there were insinuated lynchings and other unrest before this came to a head. That being said, I believe that from the beginning there were people who should have been charged that weren't....

This whole thing is sickening

I think they should be punished for the crime they commited. As should anyone else that commits a crime.
