My son and I were enjoying all the spiderwebs in our backyard today amongst the wood piles and tree branches. There were a few tunnel spiders that terrified me ... the biggest spiders I've ever seen! There were also petite tree spiders that create the most beautiful webs. Enjoy!

SPIDERWEBS

Spun sugar in air
Invisible to night's eyes
Anchored strands up high
Delicate dungeon of death
Cradles sheer dew pearls each morn

I don't care for spiders, but I love to look at the webs. Go figure. I especially like them in the morning when the sun is sparkling off the dew caught by the web.

I'm terrified of spiders, but their webs are a thing of beauty. I can see this one sparkling in dawn's dew.

I do not like spiders either and had a spine-tingling experience when a teen:

Running thru a field and saw a spider web of gargantuan proportions too late. I ran into it, fell with it all around me and as I gathered myself I saw the spider on my shoulder!

It was at least three inches across and that was just the BODY! I brushed it off and ran like the wind until I got home - about four more blocks distance.

Did not tell my mom why I was taking a shower in the afternoon!

"Spun sugar on air..." I'd have never in a million years have thought to describe a spider web this way. Beautifully written!
